CONFERENCE TEAM NOTES:
ALABAMA:
No, the Bama world will not end with the greatest, Nick Saban leaving. They got lucky with Debeor being available. Watch for QB Milroe to blow up this season under this staffs tutelage. He worked WONDERS with Penix at Washington and Milroe's base is wildly higher. The running game will be key on offense and the secondary filling some MASSIVE losses but the talent is on hand but losing Downs really hurt. The front 7 will need to be big early in the season..
LSU:
This is not the 2nd best team in this conference, but they are solid and with their painfully light schedule, they can end up with a much better record than the talent dictates. Weakness on defense will be their downfall.
On offense QB will be the key. the OL looks very strong so the running game will be solid. Yes, they lost two 1st round WR's but the talent on campus should soften that blow. The back seven on defense will carry that sid of the ball with several high '25 draft pick looming there.
OLE MISS:
The usual Ole Miss under Kifin. Very dangerous but inconsistent, defensive liabilities, and well Kiffins ego! Hey I love the guy but he is his own worst enemy at times. The QB Dart to WR Harris will be fun and the DL may best the conferences best. That said a playoff appearance is likely.
GEORGIA:
2nd best QB in conference but WR is a problem area, running game should take a leap up with Etienne. They have the best defense in the conference with about 8 likely playing on Sunday's some day. I see them as the 2nd best team in the conference but their schedule may get the best of them. That said, they will be in the playoff and should get a bye.
TEXAS:
This may be their best team and they are trending up. Still I have no confidence in Ewers to deliver a title, the running game id very suspect and that could be their downfall. The defense has got WILDY better under this staff.
OKLAHOMA:
Solid team but overmatched this year. How fast young QB Arnold matures will be key, they are explosive at RB and WR. The defense has several future NFL players.
TEXAS A&M:
Now than overrated Jimbo is gone they can start to build, departures will push that back a year or two. QB Weigman needs to stay healthy and live up to hype. The OL looks strong, now if any of the RB's can step up they will be ok. The defense will take a step back this year.
TENNESSEE:
Not feeling them this season, they are a year away. QB Lamaleave will be a star, and soon, the WR group can be special. Several new faces on the OL. Many new faces on defense , they will need to mature quickly.
FLORIDA:
Their passing game should be strong and RB Johnson is very tough. The OL really needs to be better. Poor recruiting on defense for several seasons has that group a weakness. Napier will likely not finish the season. He needs a what would be a VERY SURPRISING surprising 10 wins to even have a chance to stay.
MISSOURI:
Back to being Missouri this year, hope you all enjoyed last year. They still should be solid on offense and WR group is excellent. While nothing is great about QB Cook is an excellent game manager
KENTUCKY:
Fortunately for Stoops, the bar is low here. Several key transfers on offense will need to contribute day one. The WR group is very good as is the OL. A couple of NFL players on the defense but to many holes.
S CAROLINA:
They will NEVER compete for a title in this league. They cannot recruit at enough positions to be competitive. Several future NFL players on this team but also filled with holes.
AUBURN:
Freezes seat will be hot by mid-season, he has maybe one more. And that's a BIG maybe, Auburn nation will not be patient. They need to get some elite skill position recruits. This defense can be very good but they will have no margine for error.
MISSISSIPPI ST:
Yet another rebuild. This program will spin like this forever. And now there is not even Mike Leach to enjoy. Most of the top talent left town also.
ARKANSAS:
Unless I'm seriously wrong and they win at least 7 games, Pittman is done. To bad, I think he's a solid coach but recruiting at Arkansas is rather difficult these day's. The offense should score, the defense will give it right back.
VANDERBILT:
Why are they still in this conference, oh, that's right, we all know!
