2021 QUARTERBACK CLASS OVERVIEW/OVERALL GRADE A-
Very similar to recent classes as in QB's get elevated to Top 10 or 1st round status without the substance to back it up. Looking at recent history will show you the 17 QB's were drafted in the Top 10 from '10 through '18. It's reasonable to think these players would be in their prime, well that is wildly incorrect for the most part. FACT. only 3 of those 17 are now with the teams that drafted them yet other evaluators and more importantly NFL execs continue to flail away foolishly at prospects every season. Seriously many of these SO-CALLED experts actually will change views after PRO DAYS, absolutely LUDICROUS!!! Last season I had Herbert as my #1, not one other evaluator did. I see Lawrence as a slightly better prospect but going into a poor situation. Many others have skills but wildly overrated by others, My Draft Value is where I see the players worth. This is achieved by weighing game film, raw talent, production, competition, scheme, risk reward factor. If more teams used this metric they would improve faster and waste fewer draft picks.
THE RANKINGS QUARTERBACKS
Rank Name School Ht Wt Rtg Draft Value
1. Trevor Lawrence Clemson 6-6 220 93 Mid 1st
Rather easy pick this year for #1 QB. Lawrence has very good tools, arm strength while not great still very good, very accurate, decently athletic, mature, plays well in big games, quick on decision making well seasoned to handle pressure, and coachable. On the negative side would be his slim build that could become much more of a problem at this level a rather vanilla offense at Clemson. My biggest issue with him at #1 is a HUGE one and has nothing to do with him. Jacksonville has the top pick with Urban Meyer as their new coach, that does not bode well for Lawrence to develop to his full potential. Time will tell but I'll be surprised if Meyer lasts long. We'll see how he reacts to likely losing more games his 1st season than entire tenor at Ohio St. So while my 94 rating is based on talent I seriously question if it will ever be realized in the situation he is entering. But as usual the top pick will be a QB by a team with a unstable coaching situation
2.Zach Wilson BYU 6-2 210 90 Late 1st
And now the struggle, to me their was no clear cut option here. Wilson while very athletic does not fall back to that so quickly. Seasoned and mature, very cool under pressure, shows the ability to read 2nd/3rd options quicker than others and did not have a bevy of elite athletes to throw to. He showed the ability to throw into tight spaces with unique accuracy and while his arm is no rocket launcher he show excellent timing on long throws by throwing the ball there on time and throwing the receiver open. One negative is he too has a slight frame and will really need to bulk up some to take the beating likely coming his way playing for a poor team.I give him an ever so slight edge over Fields on the mental side of the game.
3.Justin Fields Ohio St 6-3 228 90 Late 1st
Great athlete, very good arm strength, solid mature kid. While generally showing good decision making he had a couple of frustrating periods where he has lost his cool. To me he fell slightly behind Wilson with how quickly he reads defenses and that is going to get much tougher! He is at his best when his 1st read is where he throws and he gets a rhythm, this also helps his accuracy when things break down he has shown a tendency to hold the ball to long when he needs to make a decision and throw even if it's to the 2nd row. Often he relied on his elite receiving corp to bail him out, a luxury he may not have in the NFL. I think his ceiling is definitely higher than Wilson but I question if he can get there or not, he would have benefited greatly by going back to school for another year.
4.Mac Jones Alabama 6-2 215 88 Mid 2nd
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Likely a 1st round pick but not in my world. Bama QB's are difficult to evaluate due to the programs consistently elite receivers. I actually like Jones more than Tua last year. Solid, quick decision maker, arm strength is above average, not great but still throws a solid deep ball, can hit the out and checks down well. Jones played very well in big games, and certainly can handle adversity an hard coaching playing for Saban.
5.Trey Lance NDakSt 6-3 225 86 Early 3rd
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Another likely 1st round pick that does not possess the resume in my opinion to warrant such a lofty position. Lance is this years wildcard with huge risk/reward. Many have him rated Top 10. I see more risk than reward myself. You cannot ignore the ridiculous numbers he put up two years ago. My issue is his team was far above the competition, watching his tape most of his deep throws had a receiver wide open, yes hit hit them but some of thee film looks like a glorified pro day. No denying he is a supreme athlete and has all the tools but he will take time and patience.
6.Shane Buechele SMU 6-1 207 81 Early/Mid 4th
UNDERRATED ALERT!!! Former big time recruit and son of a former MLB player. After a stint at Texas he transferred to SMU and had a very solid career. Over 11k yards 87/32 TD/INT 64%. Not very tall or thick, or the strongest arm but just gets the job done with timing and football IQ. May develope into a starter but more likely would be a valuable piece for a good team as a long term backup.
7.Kyle Trask Florida 6-4 240 80 Mid 4th
Great size , very low miles on his body after being a backup in High School and early at Florida. Played in a tough Conference with some success. Below average athlete, good not great arm, his release is rather long and inconsistent some of that could be his lack of experience. His decision making is solid and would likely improve with playing time. Good project for a team with some patience and 0.0 immediate need.
8.Jamie Newman Georgia 6-3 230 78 Late 4th
Newman has some talent for sure and was starting to put it together, he either should have played this season or came back next year after the NCAA waiver on this season. He showed at Wake Forest an ability to make all the throws, excelled at throwing the long ball and was a plus athlete. He really could have moved up with a good season but some kids refuse reality and listen to the wrong people so for now he is a project that will have to hope for the right situation.
9.Felipe Franks Arkansas 6-6 228 75 Late 5th
SLEEPER ALERT!!!!! Once a big time recruit who moved on from Florida. He improved his completion percentage significantly the past two season and got the ball downfield regularly. Good arm, decent feet and release and improved decision making. Good late round gamble could prove to be a steal.
10.Davis Mills Stanford 6-3 225 72 Mid 6th
Another one that befuddled me as to why he did not go back to school. He has some skills but in some serious need of refinement and improvement. Best case for him is QB3 for now with some hope with work to move up to backup. I just don't see him mas a starter unless in emergency
11.K J Costello Miss St 6-4 225 69 Mid 7th
Has some limited talent, could evolve to a backup status with a few years of work a steady coaching. Little else there.
12.Sam Ehlinger Texas 6-2 225 68 Late 7th
Very good college QB, quality kid, consummate team player, no quit in him, very tough, very high football IQ. problem is the tools are very limited especially on the throwing side. Great late round or free agent pickup. He could have a very nice career as a backup before he moves into coaching for a long career.
13.Brady White Memphis 6-2 210 65 FA
Loooked like more was there a couple years back but his development stalled. Physical limitations were the reason. Good camp arm and practice squad potential, that's about it.
14.Kellen Mond Tx A&M 6-3 217 64 FA
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Another former high rated recruit that many rate much higher. Started early and often in college but failed to evolve much over his career, spent to much time listening to Jimbo tell everyone how good he was. Average arm, average athlete, camp arm that will likely find a home as QB3 or practice squad for a couple years.
15.Peyton Ramsey NWestern 6-1 220 62 FA
Started out at Indiana then finished at Northwestern. Smart kid but only average tools. Likely will bounce around a little then get on with life.
2021 RUNNING BACK OVERVIEW/OVERALL GRADE C+
Not much depth this season, I see only one RB worthy of 1st round pick. All other have incomplete games or questionable durability for every down use. This draft is loaded with role playing RB's and that's how I see their caeers ending up. That said Im sure several teams will reach and fail like always.
THE RANKINGS
Rank Name Sch Ht Wt Rtg Draft Value
1.Najee Harris Alabama 6-2 230 91 Mid/Late 1st
Every coach in the country should use Harris as an example for the rash of early entries yearly who should go back to school. Last year 2nd/3rd round pick, sure he would have got paid but a year later his position is much stronger. He came back, worked on weaknesses and now a 1st rounder and much more prepared. He will make his living between the tackles but has enough burst to get outside, faster than many give him credit for. Wildly improved in the passing game at all levels and that should improve with more reps at the next level. Shows up strong for big games, 3 down back now, can take the physical beating, while not asked to often at Bama he can handle the blocking needed. Look for him to plug in and play from day one.
2.Travis Etienne Clemson 5-10 210 87 Late 2nd early 3rd
OVERRATED ALERT!! Likely will be drafted much higher than my evaluation . Another player who benefited from coming back, some will disagree with that but my logic is with his vast improvements in the passing game his value is much higher and the likelihood of a strong 2nd contract is much better. More of a slasher in the running game with very good speed, good hips and feet, not a consistent tackle breaker but with quick decision making he makes tacklers miss , he made a lot of yards with clear lanes and he will hit them fast but there will be fewer at the next level. While power is not his game his value will be increased by moving him around and getting him the ball in the open, some doubt his pass catching ability but if he continues recent improvement he can become a real weapon. Defineltly has work to do on blocking when needed. Should be a 3 down back and would be a great piece on a solid team
3.Michael Carter N Carolina 5-8 200 84 Late 3rd
Great vision, great hips, feet and decision making. More quick than fast but he uses it well to get the max out of plays, little power but elusiveness is excellent and will net him extra yards. His stature dictates he will have to be teamed with another back for his best value just as in college, not an every down back.. Needs some work in the passing game but show flashes of what could be with some proper guidance. Potential great piece of the puzzle for a good team
4.Jermar Jefferson Oregon St 5-9 215 82 Early 4th
UNDERRATED ALERT!!! Another back than will need to be part of a tandem. Great vision, balance and quickness, has more power than he is given credit for. His long speed is not elite and he will need considerable work to have any effect on the passing game. A good rotational piece but likely not much more than a 2 down back for at least a year perhaps more
5.Trey Sermon Ohio St 6-0 215 81 Early/Mid 4th
Solid but unspectacular. Runs hard between the tackles but little shake and top end is very limited. Showed some ability in the passing game with limited opportunities. Another rotational back that could start when needed and hold down the fort. Injuries ended each of his last two season so this will need to be vetted properly
.6.Javonte Williams N Carolina 5-10 220 80 Mid 4th
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Solid runner, excellent vision, good quickness and power, but very average speed and shake. A slasher who benefited from scheme and weak compitition. The difference between college and pro defensive speed will cause major problems with his game. Shows some ability in the passing game. Most like him better than his teammate, I do not.
7.Chubba Hubbard Okla St 6-0 205 80 Mid 4th
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Had the one monster year then really came back to earth. Still some things to like, great size, good speed and quickness but hips tight and feet average. Not likely to be an every down back but could have value as a committee memeber.Showed some promise in the passing game but my biggest problem is he played in the defenseless BIG 12
8.Rakeem Boyd Arkansas 6-0 205 79 Mid/Late 4th
UNDERRATED ALERT!!! Up and down career. Big time recruit transferred to JC and then back to SEC. Great size, speed ,quickness, decent power, showed some ability as receiver early in his career.. He showed great promise on some poor teams for two years but last year as team improved his numbers fell off once he was no longer the feature back or it could have been the new coaching staff just wanting something different. The reasons will need to be uncovered or could spell trouble as he will need to be a committee back at the next level.
9.Larry Rountree Missouri 5-10 210 76 Mid 5th
Very good production for a team playing out of it's league in the SEC. Put him the BIG 12 and his numbers would jump off the page. 4 year player so miles are high, was used little in the passing game due to scheme but shows very good balance, quickness and power, long speed while rarely seen is decent but not elite by any means. Good candidate for RB2 not likely to evolve much furthur.
10.Kenneth Gainwell Memphis 5-11 195 76 Mid 5th
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Sat out 2020 and that didn't help him with me, Id'd like to see another season.Great speed, quickness, balance, feet and hips, shows great promise in the passing game. While many others see him as more to me with his slight stature and his skillset would seem to indicate his best use will be as a 3rd down back. If he was 25lbs heavier he would be much higher ranked in my book.
11.Khalil Herbert Vir Tech 5-9 212 75 Late 5th
RB2 candidate, great compact frame, very good power and vision. Suffered through 4 seasons at Kansas so toughness is not an issue. But lack of ant real production in the passing game is an issue. To evolve past a2 down back major progress will be needed.
12.Kylin Hill Miss St 5-10 210 75 Late 5th
Another with a great powerful compact build. Decent quickness and speed,a slasher with som e pop. Coming off an odd season but showed plus ability in '19. A solid RB 2 prospect that could evolve to more.
13.Trey Ragas ULL 6-0 225 72 Mid 6th
Big strong back with surprising speed, not real shiffty, more of a tackle breaker. Amassed over 3500 yards in a shared backfield the last 4 years. Not much use in passing game but could assend to RB 2 with work.
14.Rham Stevenson Okla 6-0 245 71 Early 6thPure power runner with little movement, has shown surprising speed and pass catching ability so the few teams that still employ a FB would have interest and those who use a H-Back will have interest also. To most teams he is a change of pace power back. Hw will need to contribute on special teams.
15.C J Verdell Ore 5-9 210 70 Early/Mid 7th
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Most have him much higher, I'm not feeling it. A very quick slasher who has shown little shiftyness but has shown some ability in passing game. Big numbers his 1st 2 ll of this season and should have returned to work on his game.
16.Spencer Brown UAB 6-0 220 69 Mid/Late 7th
A big bodied bruser who put up huge numbers earlyi in his career. He lost weight and looked more versatile. No threat isn passing game, he will need to excel on special teams to have a chance to stick.
17.Elijah Mitchell ULL 5-10 215 68 Late 7th
Over 3200 yards last 4 years in a shared backfield, has shown breakaway ability and some passing game potential.
18.C J Marable C Carolina 5-10 200 65 PFA
SLEEPER ALERT!!!! He put up almost 2700 yards and caught over 80 passes in 3 seasons. Small frame that looks maxed out more quick than fast but big heart. These guys who play the underdog can sometimes surprise. Smart move to bring this guy to camp and see what you get.
19.Stevie Scott Indiana 6-2 230 63 FA
Showed some promise early in his career, could do some damage in a power running game where his size and strength would be best used.
20.Chris Evans Michigan 5-11 215 61 FAUnrealized potential, showed flashes throughout his time at UM. Great size/speed ratio. Likely to be cut but worth alook.
2021 OUTSIDE RECIEVER OVERVIEW/OVERALL CLASS RATING B+
A couple of future stars here and numerous excellent prospects in need of the right scheme fit to excel. That will be the key to the overall success of this class, how many perfect "round pegs" be drafted and asked to fit in "square holes"? That is the annual result of the draft that leads to many players talents being wasted by foolish GM's.
OUTSIDE RECEIVERS
Players best suited for the traditional Wide receiver position. Quickness and long speed both important but a big body than can still run can be very effective, route running and discipline vital. Most will play on the primarily outside, some are able to move inside and be effective.
Rank Name Sch Ht Wt Rtg Draft Value
1.Devonta Smith Ala 6-0 175 95 Top 10I'm higher on Smith than some, I thought he was the best WR on campus last season when Jeudy and Ruggs were still there. Runs solid route, has underrated speed and is highly elusive therefore negating his slight stature. Pure hands catcher, see the field well, excells at finding creases and cracks and avoiding contact, average at attacking the ball but will catch everything thrown at him, ultra smooth, great after the catch and long speed is better than many think. Sure I would like to see 20lbs on him but he is solid and just doesn't seem to ever get a direct hit. Best outside but could move into slot when needed. I'm not a big fan of comparisons but I really see some Jerry Rice in him.
2.Ja'Mar Chase LSU 6-0 208 94 1st Round 10/20 Chase may be even a better prospect than Smith but his sitting out this season foiled that chance with me so he is rated slight behind. I would have truly loved to see him without the loaded offense he was a part of last season. Runs excellent but limited routes, elite at attacking the ball and will win most 50/50 matchups, not very elusive but is very tough, strong and fearless. While he is not slow his speed is just above average but he will make up for that by catching everything thrown his way. Could very easily developed into a premeir possession receiver in the mold of another LSU Alum Jarvis Landry, Ugg, two comparisons in one position!!!
3.Terrence Marshall LSU 6-3 200 88 Mid 2nd Development slowed by being in a loaded room for his 1st couple years and then QB carousel last season. Looking at his raw ability I project him to excel at the next level. Likely to developed into an excellent possession receiver. Finds seams and creases well, pure hands catcher, solid after the catch but more strong than elusive so not elite, great in traffic, shows no fear working the middle, great size but more fast than quick so his ceiling does have limitations so while likely not a WR1 prospect he should develop into a very good WR2.
4.Sage Surratt Wake Fst 6-3 215 87 Late 2nd UNDERRATED ALERT!! Another I rate higher than most. very good size and strength and while speed and quickness are just average it does not seem to effect his game. He will just catch everything thrown his way, pure hands catcher, he will win the vast majority of 50/50 balls, uses simple moves and the defense underestimating him to his advantage, he will develop into the guy his team looks for on 3rd and 6, he will be the one they look for in the red zone. He will flourish as a WR2, A great pick for the team that already has Batman and needs a Robin. With his hands and strength he could also develop as a strong slot receiver. Former HS Basketball star is better athlete than many think.
5.Rashod Bateman Minn 6-1 210 86 Early 3rd Projectes as a solid possession receiver., another guy who catches everything. Very good size but average quickness and speed, hands catcher, while not very elusive does have tackle breaking ability for YAC. Shows good ability on 50/50 balls with above average strength. Has played in adverse weather and that cannot be ignored by northern teams without domes. Not a WR1 prospect, the Best case will develop into a solid WR2.
6.Tamorrion Terry Fla St 6-4 210 85 Mid 3rd CHARACTER ALERT!!! Clearly a Top 10 pick as far as size/speed and raw talent. Problem is character and it is significant. Terry relies on his athletic gifts and has not developed his skills, lets ball get to his body far to often, show major concentration issues, has not figured out how to use his height and long arms to his advantage, his practice habits MUST be questioned, shows little interest unless he his the primary focus of the play, has almost exclusively lined of on right side. High 1st round pick and WR1 potential but he must get right!! Pre draft interviews will be vital if you can get into his head you could get a steal! Worth a gamble Mid 3rd or later for me, NO HIGHER!
!7.Amon Ra St Brown USC 6-1 195 84 Late 3rdSolid yet unspectatular across the board. Smooth and confident pass catcher, shows good body control.and best attribute runs very good routes, has shown ability to play the slot when needed. Not gonna give you a lot after the catch but he will make the catch . While likely to never be full-time starter he should develop into a great WR3/4 type who could have a solid career.
8.Dyami Brown NCar 6-1 195 82 Early 4th Decent size, good not great speed, inconsistent hands and ball skills. Has shown abilility to get open downfield that cannot be ignored. He will need to have patient coaches willing to work with him as his routes were rather simplistic and relied on his athletic ability to defeat college DB's. he will need to improve his overall game . Likely a WR4 but could evolve to WR3 with the diligence required to become more consistent
.9.Tyler Vaughns USC 6-2 190 79 Mid/Late 4thHis game is much like his teammate above. His overall game is smooth and controlled while not possessing great speed or quickness. Does show ability to get open and has some elevation to his game. Best case is WR3 orWR4 with what I see as little upside past that. He is at his peak but could still carve out a nice career as a backup due to an ability to get open and make the catch in multiple WR sets.
10.Nico Collins Mich 6-4 220 78 Late 4th Looks the part for sure but that has not translated consistently to the field. Career full of flashes, a big play here and there but never gained consistency. For sure erratic QB play and coaching played a part in his lack of development. Has a very good size/speed athletic ability combo, has shown ability downfield to win 50/50 balls, WR2 potential but WR 4 resume, the upside is there but he will require hard work and patience.
11.Frank Darby AzSt 6-0 200 77 Early 5th Another product of poor decision or advice, he should have taken his free year and returned to ASU. That said his raw talent is there but underdeveloped, average size, strength, runs very solid routes, very good ball skills, enough long speed but very good quickness so could move to slot if needed. Has the potential to be a WR2 but likely will end up no better than a WR4 due to his own impatience.
12.Warren Jackson CoSt 6-6 215 77 Early 5th Long lanky frame, average speed and quickness, runs limited but solid routes and very effective in tight spaces, elevates well and shows above average ball skills. Will need to developed in a 3rd down/Red zone specialist to stick around long. Will need to find a spot on special teams .
13.Seth Williams Aub 6-3 224 76 Mid 5th OVERRATED ALERT!!! Most others have him much higher. Good size/strength. Average speed and quickness, ran very limited routes in college and while there were flashes he was very inconsistent. Had enough speed for college but a step slow for NFL. Big plays would often be followed by a key drop or poor route. Too many lapses in concentration for me to use a higher pick on him. With time and a possible season with little production he could develop but I see him at WR4 at best.
14.Trevon Grimes Fla 6-5 215 75 Late 5thFormer elite recruit that never put it all together in college, reminds me of Donavan Peoples-Jones last year. Did score 9 TD's last season. Tall with good speed and quickness, has ability to separate , will go up and get it at times but let's the ball get to his body far to often. A lot of raw unrealized ability here, a year of intense work could bring him around, worth the gamble at this point.
15. T J Vasher TxTe 6-6 210 74 Early 6th Another tall lanky guy who will need to make his living on 3rd down and red zone. Solid hands catcher, runs limited but solid routes, tougher than his slim frame would imply. Played in the defenseless Big 12 so the learning curve will be sharp but has shown flashes that warrant a good look and a season or two.16.Marlon Williams UCF 6-0 215 73 Mid 6th RB body and running ability and best attribute is YAC. Very strong, good hands and ball skills, not overly quick or fast, made a lot of yards on strength, it was enough in a weaker conference but the jump will be significant. Likely will contribute on special teams due to tough nature so that could help him stick.
17.Josh Palmer Tenn 6-2 210 72 Mid 6thSLEEPER ALERT!!! Good size, above average speed and quickness, very good ball skills, good YAC but neve was able to put it all together consistently. The QB play was subpar and the coaching staff was a mess during his time there so that must be considered. A season of good coaching and no pressure on the practice squad could do wonders for him. Worth it at this point.
18.Racey McBath LSU 6-3 224 70 Early 7th Struggled to get on the field as the WR room at LSU was rather stacked during his time. Great frame, above average speed, decent but unrefined ball skills, solid YAC. Great developmental, staying put rather than transferring out shows character, plus with limited playing time he has low miles>
19.Marquez Stevenson Hou 6-0 190 69 Mid/Late7th Shows big play potential, elite speed and quickness, frame on the slight side, ball skills very rough, body catcher, limited routes in college, worked out of slot there but with his speed he should be outside. He will need work but great developmental prospect just don't expect much for a year or two. Also has shown he could be an elite KR
.20.Osirus Mitchell MissSt 6-5 210 68 Mid/Late7thAnother big tall receiver. average speed and quickness. Above average ball skills, hands catcher, runs decent yet limited routes. Worth a practice squad spot to see if he can develop with good coaching
Late 7th Round or Free Agents worth a camp invite and a look
Isaiah McKoy 6-2 200 Kent St Who advises these kids? Should have never declared!
Damonte Coxie 6-2 195 Memphis Had a couple big seasons, worth a camp invite
Tarik Black 6-2 215 Texas Former elite recruit that never put it together
Brennan Eagles 6-4 230 Texas Great frame, has some skills, need consistency
I Smith-Marsette 6-1 185 Iowa Can be explosive, can disapear
Jhamon Ausbon 6-2 225 Tex A&M Great frame, could develop to possession receiver
Austin Watkins 6-2 205 UAB Should have returned to school
Samori Toure 6-3 190 Montana Small school stud, has all the tools
2021 SLOT RECIEVER OVERVIEW/OVERALL CLASS RATING C
I only see one 1st rounder here and several very overrated players. Many teams will draft some of these players to play outside, they will underperform or just flat out fail and the team will term them a"Bust" firmly absolving themselves from any culpability and solely putting complete blame on the player. Most NFL teams would benefit greatly if they bothered to research some history and develop some modern methods in player evaluation.
SLOT RECEIVERS
Players I deem best suited for playing primarily at the inside receiver position. Some more quick than fast, some lanky types with good hands and limited speed, some big bodied types than are not Tight Ends can find a home here. Diferent offenses can find spots for all.
Rank Name Sch Ht Wt Rtg Draft Value
1.Kadarius Toney Fla 5-11 195 92 Mid/Late 1stMoves like a RB after the catch, runs with surprising power and excellent vision, great in traffic. Excellent ball skills, elite level agility and elusivness, takes very few direct hits despite being a physical runner, elite quickness and very good long speed, he will get to 2nd level and not get run down often. Would give team the flexibility to move him around often, could line up a RB or outside WR to become a more complicated weapon to defend. Still growing as a receiver, ran limited routes at Fla but still showed improvement year over year. A very determined player that will put in the work, look for him in The Pro Bowl soon.
2.Jaylen Waddle Ala 5-10 185 88 Mid/Late 2ndOVERRATED ALERT!! I see him a little different than most. I still see him as a fine talent but I learned from Ruggs last year, drafting him to high would be a mistake. While hardly a scrub the facts are he has put up great numbers but he was never the primary guy. He was most often working on the opponents #2 /#3 CB or a Safety, that were outmatched. If drafted by a team looking for a WR1 they will be disappointed, if drafted by one looking for Slot weapon they will be pleased. Excellent quickness and great long speed. Great agility and very elusive. Solid balls skills and route running. I have little worry about his injuries last year.
3.Amari Rodgers Clem 5-10 210 86 Early/Mid 3rd Great build for an inside guy, built like a RB and runs like one. Runs with power and purpose. Great quickness and surprising long speed. solid balls skills but room for improvement, limited routes at Clemson so more improvement needed there. Used some as a PR and with work could excel there also. Tough solid kid who will work to get better.
4.Tylan Wallace OkSt 5-11 185 85 Mid/Late 3rd Burst on the scene with a huge season two years ago and while his number fell off it was due to inconsistent QB play, he still got better. Playing in the defenseless Big 12 sets him back some but he still shows elite ball skills, great quickness and surprising long speed. Has shown to be elusive after the catch and tougher than his size would indicate. Good at find seams and holes in the defense using excellent hands to make the catch.
5.Elijah Moore Miss 5-9 190 83 Late 3rd/Early 4th OVERRATED ALERT!! Many have him much higher. Yet another RB in WR clothing. Tough strong, elusive, fearless, great vision and tackle breaking ability. solid ball skills and will fight for the ball in traffic. Ran VERY limited route tree at Ole Miss so some patience will be needed while he learns the nuances of being a NFL slot receiver. Did some work in the the PR game with limited success so improvement there would help his worth.
6.Rondale Moore Pur 5-9 180 77 Early 5thINJURY ALERT!! OVERRATED ALERT!! Yes double alert player here Many other are very high on Moore I see a lot of risk that causes him to fall. One good and in my opinion overrated season, yes he caught 114 passes but 11.0 per reception and take out a few big plays and that drops even more. Shows excellent hands, elusivness, quickness, limited long speed and tackle breaking ability. To me at this level he is purely a possession receiver in multi WR sets and little else. Then factor in the injury concerns and drafting him above the 5th round would be foolish in my opinion.
7.D'Wayne Eskridge WMic 5-9 185 76 Mid 5th Excellent quickness and speed, recent former CB who still plays with defensive mentality, played both ways at times during college. Ball skills still developing, YAC is running on instinct only at this point. Weaker MAC competition did inflate numbers some but the explosiveness is obvious. Great late round developmental pick. Could easily develop all the way to WR3. Minimum he will be a dangerous weapon in multi WR sets.
8.Demetric Felton UCLA 5-9 185 75 Late 5thFormer RB who looks like he should have been a WR all along. Very good quickness, speed, elusiveness. Looks like a good YAC player with some tackle breaking ability to go along with other attributes. Could develop in a solid slot WR very quickly with focus and coaching.
9.Shi Smith SCar 5-10 190 74 Early 6thSmallish frame and limited athlete. That said he finds a way to get open and will make the catch. Better player than measurables, tough, gritty and played on a poor team with unstable coaching in a power conference. This guy is sure worth a look.
10.Dazz Newsome NCar 5-11 190 73 Mid 6th Solid yet unspectacular covers him. Good to very good at all aspects of the game excellent, elite in none. At his peak. Could be a solid possession guy in multi wide sets but little more. He will need to develop as a Special teams ace to hang around on one team very long.
11.Tutu Atwell Lou 5-9 165 72 Mid 6th Former HS QB with a slight build. Excellent quickness and burst, long speed decent, much quicker than fast. Inconsistent ball skills due to still learning the position. Could have used another year in school and 20lbs! YAC hurt by inability to break most tackles, plays soft. Another purely possession receiver in multiple WR sets, I don't see any further upside. No real experience in return game and that will need to change if he is to stick around long.
12.Simi Fehoko Stan 6-3 227 70 Early/Mid 7th Why this guy is in the draft is beyond me, no way he should not be back at school, for multiple reasons. That said he quicker and faster than most think. His route running and ball skills are very inconsistent. Purley a project on his size/speed numbers. Could develop after a year or two on the practice squaud
13.Cade Johnson SDSt 5-9 180 69 Mid 7thSLEEPER ALERT!! Small school stud, huge numbers in'18 and '19 sat out'20. Hindsight says he should have stayed away from the draft and transferred to a bigger school for a year or two. Very quick and fast, shifty, shows good ball skills. Shows serious KR ability that could help him stick until he adjusts to the speed at the NFL level. That"s the big question how fast will he adjust, CAN he adjust to this level of competition.
14.Dez Fitzpatrick Lou 6-2 210 69 Mid 7thOVERRRATED ALERT!! Former High level recruit that never was able to put it all together consistently. His route running was very inconsistent as were his ball skills. Good size and deceptive speed. I see him as a slot guy where he can rely on his physical ability rather than running complex routes. Purely a developmental pick to see if you can get the light to come on,,and STAY on.
15.Anthony Schwartz Aub 6-0 180 68 Late 7th OVERRATED ALERT!! A true timed BLAZER who never figured out how to translate it to the field consistently. Aside from a rare few big plays he was never a threat. still with his speed he is worth a long look.
Late 7th Round or Free Agents worth a camp invite and a look
Cornell Powell Clem 6-0 205 5 years at Clemson, one with any real production
Dillon Stoner Ok St 6-1 195 4 years of catching everything thrown his way
Pooka Williams Kans 5-9 170 WHY!! Should have returned to school, SOMEWHERE!
Josh Imatorbhebhe Ill 6-1 215 Big body that never lived up to athletic ability
Jaelon Darden NTx 5-9 175 Over 2700 yard and 38 TD's, worth alook.
Javian Hawkins Lou 5-9 195 College RB , slot is his only hopefor a NFL career
2021 TIGHT END OVERVIEW/OVERALL CLASS RATING C
Very top heavy class with few traditional TE's with the top players being a pure hybrid type player. Several underrated and interesting developmental projects. Numerous athletic receiving specialists and converted WR's who couldn't stop growing. Caution must be adhered to so you do not overdraft.

1.Kyle Pitts Fla 6-6 240 94 1st Round 10/20 Purely a receiving weapon at this point, but an ELITE and RARE one and that's where his rating comes from. Absolute matchup nightmare, elite size/speed ratio, elite ball skills, will win most 50/50 balls. Overpowers DB's and runs past LB's. This guy is a oversized WR playing TE. As dangerous as he is with the ball that's his game, as a blocker while he does appear willing he was rarely asked, and execution was marginal at best. Could use another 15lbs and has the frame to accept that and lose nothing, that will help but still will require considerable work to become even an average blocker. My guess is he will not be asked to do much blocking. A rare offensive weapon and he will likely be used so.
2.Pat Freiermuth Penn St 6-5 255 88 Mid/Late 2nd A more traditional and complete TE. Great size and sneaky quick, runs clean routes, soft hands and great ball skills. While not a burner he is fast enough to cause some matchup problems. Very good in traffic and wins most 50/50 balls. Needs to get a little stronger clean up some tech issues to improve his blocking but has the bulk and shows the effort to accomplish the job.
3.Hunter Long Bos Coll 6-5 255 83 Late 3rd/Early 4th Great size but could easily put on some weight . Soft hands, great at finding holes and seams and has excellent ball skills. Below average quickness and speed but is very savvy. Average blocker but with some work he could be adequate. Does not appear to have the ability to be a TE1 but could easily evolve into a quality backup for years.
4.Brevin Jordan Mia(F) 6-3 245 81 Early/Mid 4thOVERRATED ALERT!! Most have him rated much higher, to me he is another David Njoku but not the athlete. Very good athlete, undersized for the position, good speed and quickness but not elite, soft hands, good ball skills, runs solid routes. That's where his game ends, plays soft, will struggle to get off the line in NFL, not really asked to but has no real blocking skills. He struggled against college players and will get crushed by NFL players. Very one dimensional at this point and will need significant work and pateince to be more.
5.Dylan Soehner IoSt 6-7 270 78 Late 4thSLEEPER ALERT!! Played in a TE loaded program so his numbers were not impressive. Great size and frame, dominant blocker, catches everything thrown at him, soft hands, better quickness/speed than most think, crafty, smart well coached. Not the athlete most teams want starting but will find a home for a solid caeer.
6.Matt Bushman BYU 6-5 245 76 Mid 5thINJURY ALERT!! Older prospect suffered Achilles tear last season. Before than he showed surprising speed, decent quickness, soft hands, great ball skills, finds seams and holes in defenses. Good after the catch, runs clean routes. Shows effort as a blocker , results vary but with some coaching he could become decent. Good prospect for a TE2.
7.Cary Angeline NC St 6-7 250 75 Late 5thGreat frame, very good quickness/speed numbers, soft hands, good ball skills. Ran limited routes but shows promise as a receiver. Finesse player, shows little interest in blocking and that will have to change and he will need to contribute on special temas.
8.Jack Stoll Neb 6-4 260 75 Late 5th UNDERRATED ALERT!!! Great size, strength, underrated hands and ball skills. Adequate quickness/speed, limited routes run. Offense suffered from inconsistent QB play and rarely used TE's effectively, essentially another OL so his blocking will get him on a team but his development will make him stay. Great developmental TE2 prospect.
9.Kenny Yeboah Miss 6-5 240 74 Early 6thAnother former WR playing TE. Good size, soft hand, good ball skills, great quickness/ speed. Not much at blocking, will need to make an impression on special teams to stick around long.
10.Tony Poljan Vir 6-7 260 73 Mid 6th OVERRATED ALERT!!! Now we have a former QB that is now a TE. Surprising quickness/speed, soft hands and route running improving every year, servicable as a blocker and could improve with better coaching, most have him higher but I see lots of work ahead, that said he is a GREAT developmental project
11.Mike Strachan Charl 6-5 230 71 Late 6th Small college WR that needs to put on some weight move to receiving TE to have a chance. soft hands , great ball skills, average quickness and good speed but not enough for WR. Will neve be a blocker but as a backup TE receiving specialist he could find a niche. Also will have to become a special teams demon.
12.Quinton Morris B Grn 6-4 245 70 Early/Mid 7th Another former WR that outgrew that position but still undersized. Very good quickness/speed numbers, good hands, ball skills, route running. Lined up as WR more often the TE. Rarely basked to block but gave effort when asked. Will be a project but some potential there.
13.Luke Farrell OhioSt 6-5 260 69 Mid 7thUnderutilized at OSU. Big solid frame, soft hands, average ball skills and route running. Can be a dominant blocker at times and always very good, a true asset in running game. Will need to excel at special teams, he likely will do that, sacrificed much of his game for team. Great developmental pick
14.Tommy Tremble NDame 6-4 250 68 Late 7th Should have NEVER came out, great frame, excellent athlete but he needed reps. Very quick and fast, average hands, routes need work, inconsistentas a blocker but shows great promise there. Not sure what he is thinking, he could have been a top TE next year hard work.
15.John Bates BoiSt 6-5 255 67 PFABetter player than athlete, soft hands, good ball skills, below average quickness and speed, solid blocker, effort player who will do whatever asked
.Others possibly with 7th round pick or a Free Agent camp invite and look
.Noah Gray Duke 6-4 240 Undersized, not much upside, solid hand
sPro Wells TCU 6-3 250 Should have returned to school, very athletic.
Nick Eubanks Mich 6-4 255 Solid all around game, limited athlete
Tre McKitty Ga 6-4 245 Former Big time recruit, never found consistency

1.Penei Sewell Ore 6-6 330 96 Top 5 Massive frame, powerful, athletic, long powerful arms, prototypical build that could even add more weight, ridiculous quickness and agility for a 280 pounder let alone for his for 330lbs. Dominant run blocker, reaches 2nd level with ease and at times the 3rd level, he terrifies defenses when he gets outside on screens, and he uses shocking athleticism to control pass rush but will need a little refinement there to reach his full potential due only to poor competition in PAC 12 one of his FEW very minor negatives, only other was not playing this season, it would have been nice to see what improvement he achieved. Simply the most athletic giant I've ever seen. Just think of a more athletic Orlando Pace and he had a rather decent career, plug in and play 12/15 years!! I'd draft him #1 OVERALL and never think twice about it!!!
2.Liam Eichenberg N D 6-6 305 91 Mid/Late 1st Round Very good size, strength, athletic ability, long arms, well coached, experienced. More solid at everything than spectacular. Excellent run blocker, can reach 2nd level in most cases, excellent technically on pass blocking but could have some trouble with better NFL DE's. Reads well, does not miss assignments. tough, gritty, plays hard. Very good athlete, just not elite, he has enough speed to get outside and downfield well when needed. Just a very good complete prospect, plug in and play from day one guy.
3.Alex Leatherwood Ala 6-5 310 87 Late 2nd/Early 3rd Great frame, very athletic, long arms, average srength, well coached faced excellent competition. Plays more athletic than strong, will need to improve strength for long term success. Like many who rely on athletisism will make technical mistakes, far to often. Effective but not dominant in run game,, seals edge well but drive power power is average at best. While not likely to become a star with some patience and good coaching he could easily evole into a quality starter. considerable upside if you can motivate him.
4.Christian Darrisaw VaTc 6-5 311 86 Early/Mid 3rd OVERRATED ALERT!! Well built frame but does look maxed out. Excellent strength but limited athlete, heavy feet, below average agility. Strong run blocker with excellent drive and finishing ability, does not excel at getting outside but can be capable with help. Will need help with better edge players at NFL level. Could possibly move to RT or inside if he cannot cut it at LT. I think with work he can be a solid pro.
5.Walker Little Stan 6-7 320 84 Late 3rdSLEEPER ALERT!!! Former elite recruit who had an impressive 1st two seasons then was injured in game one of '19 and opted out last season, he has missed all but one game the past two seasons so there will be rust. Prototypical frame, excellent athletic ability, excellent technically, well coached, long arms, very good but not dominent strength. Solid run blocker, athletic enough to reach 2nd level with ease and potentially an elite pass blocker, has all the tools. Little is the best risk/reward player on the OL board! He will likely make some teams draft.
6.Alaric Jackson Iowa 6-6 320 83 Late 3rd/Early 4th Excellent size and strength, decent quickness, and agility, well coached in program with impressive history. Versitile, could play either side but most experience on the left side. Very good run blocker, excellent drive, can get to 2nd level but has some issues finishing there. Atletic enough to get outside and downfield but not a great finisher there. Solid technical pass blocker but not elite , while rarely fooled he could struggle with elite speed rushers.
7.Brenden Jaimes Neb 6-5 325 82 Early 4th Excellent size, good not great strength, average quickness and agility. Could move inside. Lots of starting experience against solid competition with inconsistent results. I see many of his issues as a result of a questionable scheme fit and poor coaching. Great developmental project who could developed into a starting role or at least quality backup.
8.Brady Christensen BYU 6-6 300 79 Mid/Late 4th 3 year starter, good athlete, quick, agile, decent strength. Better pass blocker than run blocker. Great feet, moves well, will need some small technical adjustments but otherwise solid in pass protection. More work needed in run game, likely on afit in Zone type schemes. Should at least be quality depth who can start when needed and give solid performance.
9.James Hudson Cin 6-5 310 78 Late 4th WHY!!! Who advises these kids? Should be back at school. Anyway I was looking at him as possible 1st rounder NEXT SEASON!! But that is no more, Great frame, excellent strength, agility, quickness, powerful in run game, great drive and balance, improved in pass game but considerable work needed there, possibly the top developmental player at this position if you have room to carry him for a year or two while he learns.
10.Samuel Cosmi Tx 6-6 300 77 Early 5th OVERRATED ALERT!! Long frame that could use some weight. Average strength, better athlete, great feet, very good hands. Better in passing game than running game, below average drive, gets to 2nd level but struggles to finish consistently. Solid in passing game due to being technically sound. a bit of a project but pass game work makes him worth a spot.
11.Dillon Radunz NDSt 6-6 298 75 Late 5thOVERRATED ALERT!!! Another small college stud. You cannot underestimate the competition, the curve will be significant. That said Radunz is an intriguing prospect with developmental upside. Great frame, athletic, very good size and strength numbers, showed the dominance at FCS level you want. Still a project, will need a year or two for maximum value therefore my 5th round rating. He would have benefited greatly by transferring to a larger school for a season.
12.Stone Forsythe Fla 6-7 329 75 Late 5thGreat size, strength numbers, not ideal quickness, may have to move inside, ideal size, better at pass protection than run blocking at this time. Good developmental prospect, unlikely to ever be a full-time starter but could end up a solid backup.
13.Spencer Brown NIo 6-9 320 74 Early 6thAnother small college stud. Dominant at his level. Monster frame! , excellent athlete, very good quickness and agility, Needs to get stronger. $ year starter in college, Played RT but with his athletic ability I would develop him at LT. Rare atlete for size.
14.Dan Moore TxAM 6-5 320 72 Mid 6th 3 year starter at LT. Good not great results, excellent frame, good quickness/strength numbers but not dominant. Better in passing game than running game now. Likely never a starter but could develop into quality depth.
15.Calvin Ashley FlaAM 6-6 335 70 Early/Mid 7thIntriging small school monster. Former elite D1 SEC recruit that never put it together, has all the tools, worth a camp look for sure and likely worth a practice squad spot for a year.

1.Jackson Carmen Clem 6-5 345 87 Lt 2nd/Early 3rd
OVERRATED ALERT!! BUST ALERT!! Former elite recruit! Never livied up to the hype. while a solid starter at LT he was never dominant. GREAT frame, solid strength and athlete, can be excellent in run blocking but will get slopy in pass protection. Not a NFL LT, will struggle with the speed, if left at LT he will become a holding flag machine. He will have to move to RT or perhaps inside may be the best move for him for a longer career. Will he resist the moves? History tells us players like him often do so he has a high BUST potential for that reason.
2.Jalen Mayfield Mich 6-5 319 84 Late 3rd
Solid yet unspectacular in all phases. Great frame, solid strength and quickness for the position. Better run blocker at this point, will need help with better pass rushers. Likely best scenario would have him develop into a solid middle of the road starter
3.Tevin Jenkins OkSt 6-7 321 83 Late 3rd/Early 4th
OVERRATED ALERT!! 3 year starter in the defensively challenged Big 12.Prototype frame, shows at times to be a solid drive blocker with a nasty streak, will need help in pass protection for the near future. Many have him ranked higher, with a few years of hard work and patience he could evolve into a solid starter.
4.Adrian Ealy Okl 6-6 340 79 Mid/late 4th
Another monster from the Big 12. Surprisingly underdeveloped for amajor program, numerous tech flaws in his game that will require hard work tofix. More of a brawler at this point, could have to move inside.
5.Abe Lucas WaSt 6-7 324 78 LatE 4th
Multi year starter in a pass happy scheme. He will accel in a similar offense. run blocking will need considerable work. Some see him as a LT project, that is a possibility but best fit is likely at RT in a pass hevey scheme.
6.JakE Curhan Cal 6-6 340 74 Early 6th
4 year starter in a pro style offense, more of a brawler at this point, inside move is a distinct possiblity. Tech sound and I could see him developing into a versitile back up.
7.Drew Himmelman IllSt 6-9 319 73 Mid 6th
Small College monster. Former TE that just kept growing, VERY athletic, VERY raw!! Great developmental prospect, he could prove to be a steal in a couple years.
8.Robert Hainsey ND 6-4 295 71 Late 6th
Multi year starter with a crazy motor. Coaches will love his attitude but his athletic shortcomings may be to much to overcome
9.Josh Ball Marsh 6-8 305 70 Early 7th
CHARACTER ALERT!! Former elite Fla St recruit who has run in to some problems. Great frame and a plus athlete, has major potential and could develope, good late rounf gamble.
10.Carson Green TxAM 6-6 315 70 Early 7th
Former lower recruit who with hard work and effort gave himself a shot. Guys like him are always worth a look.
11.Cole Van Lanen Wisc 6-4 312 69 Mid 7th
Another from the Wisconsin OL factory. Looked like another start early in his career but pass protction just never got consistent. Still well coachedm athetic and could develop into a solid B/U.
12.Foster Sarell Stan 6-7 330 68 Late 7th
Former LOFTY recruit! Tech sound but he never developed his strength to the level needed. Does not appear to be the hardest worker in the room. Also somewhat limited athletically. Worth a late pick od FA look anyway.
13.Landon Young KY 6-7 321 67 PFA
Another former lofty recruit who never reall lived up to the hype. Great frame, long arms but limited athlete. Best outcome could be as a backup at multiple positions.
14.Greg Eiland MissSt 6-8 335 66 PFA
Massive prospect with athletic limitations. Should have returned to school for more work, possible practice squad developmental player.
15.Tommy Doyle Mia(O) 6-8 325 65 FA
Monster who played both Tackle positions in a G5 conference, Anothe limited athlete who can be a force in the run game at this stage, could develope.

1.Rashawn Slater N.W 6-4 305 92 Mid /Late 1st POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! 4 year starter, played two years at both tackle positions in college, played Guard in HS. Some see him as a tackle I see him inside. Average frame for outside, often reaching for speed rushers inside his limitations are minimal. Very athletic, very good strength, excellent quickness and light feet, very technically strong in run game, gets to 2nd level quickly and finishes, with quick feet he gets outside with ease , shows good balance and agility in pass sets but physically limited outside, another reason why his skill set better fits inside, well-coached, plug in and play guy for at least decade. I see a lot of former College LT Joel Bitonio in Slater.
2.Trey Smith Tenn 6-5 330 90 Late 1st Multi year starter, played both tackle and guard, I see him inside and my evaluation is for inside, great size, very athletic, excellent strength, quick light feet, long arms, good hands, dominant in run game and reaches 2nd level with ease, gets outside and finishes. Pass protection is a little uneven but with agility and nimble feet he shows potential to be dominant inside. Had some medical issues with blood clots in lungs but seems clear now but this will need to be vetted.
3.Wyatt Davis OSU 6-4 315 88 Mid/Late 2nd Top level recruit who started 3 years. At times dominant, always very good. strongest in in run game, excellent strength, average agility, great drive, quick light feet, gets to 2nd level but not always consistent with finish there, will be best at pass protection in quick set pass game, at times he struggles with quicker DL. Will need work on pass protection at NFL level
4.Deonte Brown Ala 6-4 350 87 Late 2nd Massive athletic frame, carries weight well, great strength, surprising athlete, gets outside with surprising ease, can destroy 1st and 2nd levels when rolling. Problem is at times he slows due to size, could stand to get in better condition and lose 25lbs or so. Best use would be with power run team. Pass blocking somewhat inconsistent though results were good overall, he will struggle with quicker DL at NFL level and will need some time solid coaching to overcome.
5.Alijah Vera Tucker USC 6-3 310 86 Early 3rd Played both Guard and Tackle in college, played tackle in '20 but will need to move back inside at NFL level. While undersized for the outside at Guard he can use his size and leverage to his advantage. Technically very strong, rarely out of position, good size, great strength, uses hands well, good feet, excellent short area quickness but only an average athlete. equally strong in both run and pass game. Good in most offenses
6.D'Ante Smith E Car 6-5 292 83 Late3rd/Early 4th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! College LT that lacks the size for outside and will need to move inside at NFL level. If he were 315 he would 1st round . Wildly athletic, very quick, light feet, moves and looks like a TE, he has put on weight but could use more. Former wrestler uses hands very well, has above average ability to drive block, gets to 2nd level with ease, gets outside and finishes well, uses athletic ability to move pass rushers but can struggle with larger, stronger DL. Great fit in a zone blocking scheme.
7.David Moore Gram 6-2 320 81 Mid 4th SLEEPER ALERT!!! FCS monster. Surprising athlete for size, looks/moves lighter than listed weight. Great punch, powerful drive, gets 2nd level and outside with ease, can become dominant in run game. Solid in pass protection, light feet and great hand placement and anticipation. Compared to others a relative newcomer to the game after only playing since Jr year of HS. Will need some time to adjust to major competition level increase. My top developmental prospect in Guard class
8.Aaron Banks N D 6-6 325 80 Mid/Late 4th Multi year starter yet still had eligibility. Well coached in program known for OL prospects. Huge frame, thick, athletic for size but has limitations, solid run blocker, good drive and a solid finisher, can reach 2nd level but will struggle to finish on quicker players, has limited ability to get outside. Solid but unspectacular in pass protection, technically sound, will hold his spot but will struggle with speed rushers. should have gone back to school.
9.Quinn Meinerz WiscWh 6-3 310 78 Late 4th DIII stud from elite program at that level, that said he will require patience and work. Dominant at college level, former wrestler who uses hands well, light feet, solid athlete but not elite, very good strength, sound technically but will need massive adjustment to far greater competition. Will need work in pass protection but shows ability, crushing in run game at his level. Very good developmental prospect.
10.Ben Cleveland Ga 6-6 350 76 Mid 5th Masive prospect, thick, powerful, excellent strength, brawler type with very limited agility and while quick for size he is not for the position. Great drive and finisher in run game, can be dominant at times. Marginal in pass protection, physical limitations are evident there and he will need help. Could flourish in a power run heavy offense.
11.Jack Anderson TxTe 6-5 320 75 Late 5th Multi year starter in pass heavy offense but best suited for a power run offense in NFL, excellent size, plus strength, another high effort mauler but average at best agility. Well versed in pass game but limited due to athletic ability Good in tight spots but a liability when in space. An intriguing prospect, could have a nice career if he lands in the right place.
12.Kayode Awosika Buff 6-5 305 74 Early 6th Multi year starter played LT and RT but I see his best fit inside.. Excellent strength, very athletic, very quick, great feet, uses hands well gets 2nd level with ease and can get downfield and finish. Marginal at pass protection, this is the reason for his move inside and his ranking. He will need considerable work in this aspect but has the tools for the job.
13.Kendrick Green Ill 6-4 310 73 Mid 6th Former DT who moved across the line, has played guard and Center and that versatility will get him on a team. Very strong and technically sound, limited athete. Above average at both run and pass game but likely will top out as solid backup in NFL
14.Royce Newman Miss 6-5 310 72 Late 6th Long lean multi year SEC starter. Maxed out athletically, very good strength. decent quickness and agility, strong in run game but will need considerable work in pass game to be any more than a backup for a few seasons. Versitility will be key, has has played all position on OL.
15.Tommy Kraemer N D 6-5 320 72 Late 6th Another former elite recruit, looked the part early in career but seemed to max out quickly. Multi year starter, has played RT as well as Guard, limited athlete, heavy feet, marginal agility, can fill in outside but will need to be in a power run game at guard to have any future success. Likely a career backup.
16.Jon Dietzen Wisc 6-5 319 71 Early 7th INJURY ALERT!!! Great size and strength, limited played well when healthy but injury history will need a good look. Versitile and played multiple positions in a OL factory at Wisconsin so is well coached and technically sound so worth a look.
17.Sadarious Hutcherson SCar 6-4 320 69 Mid/Late 7th Former TE that has played OT and Guard in college so versatility is there. Great athlete, strong quick, agile. Technically another story, he will need at least a season on the practice squad with some intense work to succeedwith his athletic ability that is a good gamble.,
18.Larry Borom Mo 6-6 332 68 Late 7th Has played both Tackle spots as well as inside, surprising athletic ability, nimble feet. Strength is subpar for NFL, he will get run over. Another practice squad developmental project who will need to see the strength training team 1st.
19.Bryce Hargrove Pitt 6-4 320 66 PFA WHY?? Should still be at Pitt!! Great size and has solid athletic ability and strength but needs work in all aspects, another year of development and he would at least be draftable and possibly as high as Day 2. I can only ponder who advises these kids.
20.Cole Banwart Io 6-4 300 65 FA Solid player from one of the better OL factories in College Football always worth a summer look at least.

Elite size, Elite strength, good overall athletic ability and very good agility, quickness is average at best Former wrestler is excellent in short spaces , will turn and seal most NT's, excellent drive, technically sound in run game and can be dominant. Can reach 2nd level and can get outside although not top attributes. Will need work and likely some help with quicker DL and blitz pickup, limited athete will cause him more issues at NFL level. High character and high football IQ player that will likely put in the work to improve. Look for a long solid yet unspectacular career.
2.Josh Myers OSU 6-4 312 87 Late 2nd Multi year starter who is very comfortable moving over to Guard also. Very good strength, very good athlete and very agile. I put him at C due to that is likely where he gets his 1st look but sliding over could happen. Very good drive, can reach 2nd level and outside and finish, excells on combo blocks, but can get pushed back by stronger NT's. Will need some work in pass game, can be beat by bull rushing DL, gets sloppy and reaches so expect some holding calls. More of a turn and direct guy than a hold your ground type. Can develop into a strong center and Versitility will help him.
3.Landon Dickerson Ala 6-5 325 86 Early 3rd INJURY ALERT!! Great size, strong enough to move most anyone, can turn and seal with ease. Very quick, decent overall athlete. Will reach 2nd level and outside with his quickness.but willstruggle to finish more athletic players. Needs some serious technical work for success in NFL passing game, got away with using brute strength in college. The two major knee injuries are a serious concern or he would rated higher, risk reward is very real with him.
4.Drew Dalman Stan 6-2 300 74 Early 6th Very smart high football IQ player, this somewhat makes up for him being undersized with only slightly above average strength and athletic ability, solid technically also but does get run over from time to time and that will increase at NFL level. Still he has also logged time at Guard showing versatility and that will help him stick around a few years as a solid backup
5.Ryan McCollum TxAM 6-5 300 73 Mid 6th 5th year player who was recruited as an OT has played both guard spots and started last season at Center. Versitility will get him a shot. Good size, athletic ability, strength and technically. Solid but not great at all aspects. Worth a look, could end up a valuable backup.
6.Trey Hill Ga 6-3 330 72 Late 6th Multi year starter in SEC, excellent strength, average athlete, strong in run game can turn and seal most and drive blocking is his strength, can reach 2nd level but will struggle to finish, struggles to get outside. Could move over to guard if needed. Limited upside , most likely a career backup.
7.Micheal Menet PSU 6-3 305 70 Mid 7th 4 year starter, Good size, below average strength, good quickness and agility. Very technically sound and has used that to be veryeffective in college game. I see him as a practice squad developmental prospect who will need to live in the weight room for a year.
8.Jimmy Morrissey Pitt 6-2 305 69 Late 7th 5 year player, former walk on who started 47 games. Average size, strength, athletic ability, has had some injuries, but never underestimate tenacity and resilencecy and he possesses both. He will need a year or two on practice squad but don't count him out.
9.Derek Kerstetter Tx 6-5 295 67 PFA 4 year starter, has logged time at RT and RG and Center this past season. Average size, strength, athletic ability, Solid but unspectacular in all aspects but versatility will get him in camp and he will likely end up on someone's practice squad.
10.Drake Jackson Ky 6-1 292 66 FA 4 year starter, undersized, great strength , very agile, technically sound. Just gets run over by bigger stronger DL. Best outcome is backup on a zone blocking team.
2021 4-3 DEFENSIVE END OVERVIEW/OVERALL CLASS RATING D+
Not an elite class, I do not see a dominant player at this position. The best player opted out last season so his development was stalled. I still keptthe one year wonder on top so that says a lot about the rest of the class. several players I feel are wildly overrated, numerous "Athletes" that had spotty production. 4-3 DEFENSIVE ENDS
Classic old school outside pass rush 1st specialists, some run defense separates the Elite, good, role player tags. Must have ability to disrupt the backfield on a regular basis. Pressure on QB is vital, these players can change the pace of a game.

1.Greg Rousseau Mia(F) 6-6 260 90 Late 1st BUST ALERT!!! I'm always hesitant to rate one year wonders high but there is no denying Rousseau's raw potential upside. Had he played this past season and shown improvement on weak spots he could have easily been a Top 10 pick Long lean frame, good strength, tremendous agility, former WR has elite quickness and overall speed to his game,he reallycould use some work on strength, could use at least 10/15 lbs. As a pass rusher his quickness is his calling card, uses hands well, and make the best of the strength he has, refinement will be necessary as NFL types will adjust to his one trick game. In run game I see flashes but little dominance again his quickness will get him to the play but limited strength and weight hinder him there also. Purely a 4-3 DE and NOTHING else,he will fail as DE or OLB in 3-4 base. He gets #1 on upside that cannot be ignored but there is Bust potential
2.Carlos Basham WFrst 6-4 275 89 Early 2nd The most seasoned and best all around DE. While not possessing Rousseau's upside he is a much more complete and proven commodity in all phases. Ideal size and strength numbers, excellent quickness and surprising closing speed getting across the field. Will need to develop some more moves in pass rush as he used superior quickness and strength in college. Solid instincts in run game, can track and finish much smaller players with surprising effectiveness. Has the size and strength to also be effective as DE in 3-4 but talents would be best used in 4-3 system.
3.Ronnie Perkins Okl 6-3 247 86 Early 3rd Purely a 4-3 pass rush speciast at this time but has the skill set to do much more. A bit undersized but makes up for that with excellent and functional quickness with impressive closing speed, this along with surprising power he can beat players on the edge as well as inside. Gets penetration in run game but relies on athletic ability and has very undeveloped fundamentals, goes solely for splash plays but neglects the dirty work needed to excell, this will be exposed by NFL defensive coaches. Has the tools to be special but does he have the work ethic?
4.Rashad Weaver Pitt 6-5 265 84 Late 3rd Great frame that can take on some bulk, underrated quickness and closing speed, average strength that will need to improve. Very technically sound, rarely misses a read, keeps his head up and focused often dropping QB's on the move. tacks ball fakes well and finishes. Fundamentally very sound, he will struggle with elite OL but while not an elite athlete he gets the most out of his abilities. Effort player who is always where he is supposed to be, likely will never be a star he can develop into a very dependable asset.
5.Jaelen Phillips Mia(F) 6-5 265 83 Late 3rdCHARACTER ALERT!! OVERRATED ALERT!!! INJURY ALERT!!! I cannot understand why any NFL executive would risk a 1st/2nd round draft pick on him with all the questions and that WILL happen!! Multiple concussions as well as other injuries, he once "retired" from football and then in a curious twist transferred to Miami. That said the talent of the former elite recruit is OBVIOUS, great frame , excellent strength, surprising quickness and closing speed, shows ability to get outside and inside on pass rush but will need to respond to coaching to improve and develop his natural gifts, they will not be enough at NFL level. Much better run defender at this time sets the edge with purpose and will finish, rarely out of position, tracks ball very well keeps head up and focused, great edge defender already and has tools to dominate. I see the talent but also numerous RED FLAGS, and this should not be ignored! The risk/reward works for me late in 3rd round.
6.Payton Turner Hou 6-6 280 80 Mid 4th Prototypical size, excellent quickness and closing speed, very athletic and agile. Average strength, relies on athetic ability, very undeveloped technically, a one trick pony who will need some serious coaching and development. Has the tools for run defense but only shows flashes, you are drafting the classic "athlete" not a finished product by any means. It's all about potential with Turner, he has all the tools to be elite but will he put in the work.
7. Patrick Jones Pitt 6-5 260 79 Late 4th Multi year starter, solid technician, solid but maxed out frame, average strength, very good quickness and agility but limited closing speed, solid, dependable effort player who will always be where he is supposed to be. Problem is he will often be defeated by superior athletes. The absolute opposite of Turner, maxed out and likely a career backup but could be a very good one.
8.Wyatt Hubert KanSt 6-3 258 78 Late 4th Slighly undersized, average speed, average strength, average agility, limited moves, BEST motor in the class, long arms, high football IQ. The classic overachiever in every sense, likely a career backup but also likely to have a surprisingly long career. Great mid round prospect to provide depth, character and leadership on a good team, likely to embrace special teams and become a demon there.
9.Joe Tryon Wash 6-5 260 75 Late 5th Long lean frame in need of some bulk. Excellent quickness and closing speed, very athlete and agile, below average strength, will get controlled by better OT's, limited moves, struggles to set the edge against better OL. Purley a very athletically talented prospect who should have returned to school, another case of who the hell advises these kids.
10.Jayson Oweh PSU 6-5 257 75 Late 5thOVERRRATED ALERT!! I've seen him rated as high as 1st round, I'm not feeling it at all. Will look great in workouts but it has not been seen on the field with the exception of a few spotty flashes. great frame that could accept the bulk he needs, excellent quickness and speed, great athlete. Very limited and raw technically, easily controlled by even average OL. Struggles to find QB and RB with even the slightest deception. Raw athlete that will likely never be anything more but worth a late round gamble.
11.Victor Dismuke Dk 6-2 265 72 Mid 6th Another undersized, average athlete with very high football IQ. Has decent strength and some functional quickness but limited closing speed. Limited moves but very dependable to give maximum effort and be where he is supposed to be. Will need to embrace Special teams for longer career.
12.Jonathan Cooper OSU 6-3 255 71 Late 6th Marginal size, strength, quickness, speed and athletic ability. More of an edge defender than pass rusher. Spent 5 years in college so his persistence will be needed again, well coached in a system known for DE production, likely would have started multiple years elsewhere.
13.Joshua Kaindoh FlaSt 6-7 258 70 Early 7th CHARACTER ALERT!!! All world frame that could easily add so bulk, excellent athlete, excellent quickness and closing speed, strength is average and will need work. Production never matched ability, one must ask what are his practice habits, is he coachable, is the commitment there?
14.Jordan Smith UAB 6-7 250 68 Late 7th Great frame that can easily be developed, high motor player who had no business declaring, worth a last round a look and perhaps a practice squad spot for a season.
15.Elerson Smith NIowa 6-6 250 66 PFA Small school stud, great athlete who will need time and coaching to develope'

Adetokunbo Ogundeji N D 6-4 255 Overrated by others, marginal prospect to me.

2021 3-4 DEFENSIVE END OVERVIEW/OVERALL RATING D
Same here as at the 4-3 position. Overall a weak class. Few answers and many question abound for most players. I see only one player here who should be a 1st rounder, I feel others will get drafted and never live up to position.
3-4 DEFENSIVE ENDS
Run stuffer 1st,(5 Technique) if these players excel at pass rush they are rare and can become elite. Generally larger and closer to the DT body mold than the classic 4-3 DE. Rarely are these players worth more than a 2nd round pick. Many will be highly drafted and paid way to much causing salary cap issues when a second contract comes along.. Often just big guys that need to hold point of attack. VERY rare prospects worthy of a top 15 pick. Often many more are drafted that high.

1.Christian Baremore Ala 6-5 310 91 Late 1st Many have him at DT and while I believe he may be the top player there also I see his best position here. Ideal size for the position, athletic for bulk, very strong and surprising 1st step, good hands, light feet, improving instincts. Only two years playing at Othe last half on this past season the light really appeared to be ON. Started to find the gaps and disrupt the backfield, showed tremendous improvement tracking the ball, showed improvement finishishing in backfield. In pass game he is an imposing figure with hands up to see and throw over, improved tacking of QB's on the move, at times was dominant running over other future NFL draft picks make them look silly. His upside is considerable but he needs to remain motivated to reach his potential. I know most will say "take the money" but another year could have move him up considerably .
2.Kwity Paye Mich 6-4 277 86 Early 3rdOVERRATED ALERT!! Most others have him rated much higher than this. Slightly undersized, good strength but needs to improve, stronger OL will control him, he relies on his being an excellent athlete, very quick and impressive closing speed. Technically sound, has multiple moves, gets penetration but does struggle finishing at times. Inconsistent tracking the ball, will get lost in pack at times. Needs to improve on QB tracking also. lot of athletic ability to work with, like most UM players the past several years poor coaching must be examined when evaluating. he has the tools to be starter either here or as a 4-3 DT, I see his best chance here.
3.Dayo Odeyingbo Vand 6-5 280 84 Late 3rd NOTE: Ruptured achilles in 1/21 so this season may be in jeopardy Great size and frame to accept some added bulk if desired, very good strength but it could improve, surprising athlete, very quick and very good closing speed. A slow developer in college but took great strides last season, improved pass rush production, showed better ability to track and finish QB, also improved in run game as an edge defender. Looks like the light came on this season, that along with his athletic ability and likleyhood he will drop due to injury could lead to his being an absolute steal this draft.
4.Isaiahh Loudermilk Wisc 6-6 293 80 Mid 4thSLEEPER ALERT!!! Played primarily inside, I see him in outside in the 3-4 set. Prototypical size, very good strength, better athlete than advertised. Lighly recruited and still developing player. Shows ability to be dominant in run game, uses hands well and has light feet, holds the point of attack, sets a solid edge shows good instintcs, in the pass game he needs some work and will never be elite but can be acceptable. Late bloomer who was moved around too much in college, if allowed to concentrate on one position he will become an effective pro.
5.Osa Odighizuwa UCLA 6-2 280 78 Late 4th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! Another most see as a DT and I see his best fit here. Undersized but make up for that with excellent functional strength and good use of leverage. Has quickness to shoot gaps and disrupt the backfield, tracks QB well, has played some outside and set the edge effectively , tracks RB's and finishes. versatile prospect with multi position ability.
6.Cory Durden FlaSt 6-5 312 75 Late 5th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! DT in college with uneven results, with his game and length I don't see him there. Has a great frame for 3-4 DE but looks to have some unneeded weight, excellent strength, decent quickness, has the bull rush power to be a backfield disrupter but he must be more consistent. Tracks the ball well and his arms extended he is difficult to throw over. Many positives make him an interesting developmental prospect.
7.Zeandae Johnson Cal 6-4 290 71 Late 6th Steady solid multi year starter, average quickness and athletic ability, high football IQ, always in position. Maxed out body and athletically, best to develop as a DL backup, has experience inside and outside,
8.Cameron Sample Tula 6-3 280 69 Mid 7th Unduersized scrapper, great motor, smart player can fill in at multiple positions, value as a developmental reserve.
9.Xavier Kelly Ark 6-5 311 69 Mid 7th Former Clemson lofty recruit who failed to develop there and had veryspotty results at Ark. Thick with heavy feet, could develop into a short yardage/goaline player.
10.Ralfs Rusins Lib 6-6 315 69 Mid 7th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! Interesting Lativian monsterous and powerful transplant, showed major improvement yearly, NT in college but a better fit here. Developmental upside is considerable but will take a few years to realize.
11.Aubrey Soloman Tenn 6-5 315 68 Late 7th Former elite recruit who transferred and never lived up to hype, athletic and very strong, great frame, worth a look to see if there is an on switch.
12.Carlo Kemp Mich 6-3 285 67 PFA High motor 5 years guy, persistent team 1st player, possible backup or rotational piece.
13.Jared Goldwire Louis 6-6 286 67 PFA Played NT in College but seemed out of position, used to run stuffing, possible short yardage rotational player.
14.Justus Reed VaTe 6-3 275 66 FA 6 year player, shows persistence and high character, flashes when healthy, 6.5 sacks in shortened '20 season.
15.Tariqious Tisdale Miss 6-5 290 65 FA Has nice size and some athletic ability, should have returned to school.
Other worth a camp invite
Michael Clemons TxAM 6-5 270 Not athletic enough for 4-3, needs to gain bulk and make it here
Milton Williams LaTech 6-4 278 Has ability and shows potential, NO WAY he should have declared!!
4-3 DEFENSIVE TACKLES
Classic run stuffers, (3 technique) when able to provide pass rush value increases significantly, on RARE occasions to elite level. Position is OFTEN overrated and wildly overpaid, countless long term huge cap strangling contracts have been given and soon regretted. Get a few years out of them and move on. Again VERY rare prospects worthy of a top 15 pick. Again very often many more are drafted that high and NFL execs still fail to learn!

1.Jaylen Twyman Pitt 6-2 290 89 Early 2nd One big year then opted out last season. Very powerful, especially hands and arms, very quick low center of gravity player, excels at getting leverage to push by OL, uses hands better than any player in class, excels at tracking the ball then finishes the job. Hits gaps with lightning quick 1st step, will provide instant improvement to inside rush. Very solid in run game, tracks the ball well then attacks with precision, when he looks on the ball carrier in done.
2.Daviyon Nixon Iowa 6-3 300 88 Mid 2nd Exploded onto the seen last season, great size , excellent strength, lightning-quick, very athletic and has shocking downfield closing speed, runs like man 50 lbs lighter. Excels in run defense, tracks the ball well and can close much faster than expected and surprise RB's with his athletic ability. Made great advances in pass rush but still needs to improve, uses quickness well, average use of hands, he loses the QB at times and can get burned by athletic QB's alone with screens and draws. Best all around athlete in class.
3.Jay Tufele USC 6-3 315 87 Late 2nd OVERRATED ALERT!! Most have him in 1st round, I do not. Thick, powerful, excellent strength, very quick for bulk, light feet and surprisingly athletic. Tracks ball well in run game, has the speed to run down many RB's and understands angles well. Not here in pass rush yet, basically uses a swim move or bull rush right now so that will require work and coaching. Has not put it all together yet except for flashes, and while those flashes terrify opposing offenses they were far to infrequent , player really should have stayed in school to develop.
4.Tommy Togiai OSU 6-3 300 84 Late 3rd SLEEPER ALERT!!! Monster improvement this past season after a couple of seasons as a backup. One of the strongest players in the draft, good athlete, great quickness. Has shown ability to dominate OL, best in run game, tracks the ball well and with his power finishes with authority, his strength can control and gum up the middle of the field, he could even fill in at NT if needed. Much work will be needed as a pass rusher, it's bull rush or nothing right now for him. Still learning to play at college level and tht's why I absolutely believe it was a major mistake to declare, another season with good coaching and he was likely a 1st round pick.
5.Levi Onwuzurkie Wash 6-3 288 82 Early 4th Very athletic, very good strength, quickness and agility. Quick 1st step, light feet, good hands, slippery inside, tracks QB well, quick enough to handle pathetic QB's. Hits gaps well, once in backfield an excellent finisher. Negatives are lack of consistency and a frame that is a bit undersized and maxed out. More powerful NFL OL will handle him with ease limiting him to backup and spot start duty.
6.Darius Stills W V 6-1 282 79 Late 4th Undersized, motor than has only one speed,HIGH, lightning quick, great hands, light feet, very disruptive. Tracks the ball very well, excells at slipping through slim gaps and finishing. Great closing speed gets him across the field with ease. Due to size likely a rotational piece but could easily develop into a very important piece.
7.Mustafa Johnson Colo 6-0 290 76 Mid 5thSLEEPER ALERT!! Undersized, very quick, athletic, versatile has played every position on the line. Showed great promise early in career, very likely suffered from back to back years of complete coaching changes, this cannot be ignored. Could end up valuable rotational piece.
8.Marlon Tuipulotu USC 6-2 305 75 Late 5th Undersized, tank like player, great strength, very quick, limited agility and overall athletic ability. Stiff, straight ahead bull rusher using quickness. 9.Jerome Johnson Ind 6-3 305 74 Early 6th 5-year player who improved every season, solid in all phases elite in none. Aveage size, quickness, speed, strength. Gets consistent penetration but inconsistent on finish, showed major progress Str season warranting a long look.

11. Austin Faoliu Ore 6-3 300 71 Late 6th Versatile, played multiple positions, part time starter for two seasons then finished in shortened season. Possible rotational player who can spot start.
12.Bobby Brown TxAM 6-4 315 77 Early 7th Former lofty recruit who never developed into the dominant player expected. NT in college and could fill in there but his limited strength should move him slightly outside, not athletic enough to move to 3-4 DE
.13.Malik Herring Ga 6-3 280 70 Early 7th Solid, gritty tough run defender who offers little in pass rush, versatile having played multiple positions.
14.Ta'Quon Graham Tx 6-3 300 69 Mid 7th Versatile having played DE and DT, good size, average strength and athletic ability, rotational player at best.

2021 4-3 MIDDLE LINEBACKER POSITION OVERVIEW/ OVERALL RATING D
With more and more College teams running hybris defenses the classic MLB is being phased out. That is why so few players are rated here and even fewer are rated high. All players rated here must be versatile enough to regularly operate in a two LB set which is becoming increasingly common in NFL. With only two players in first two rounds and three players rated above Late 4th round I cannot recall a year so devoid of NFL talent. 4-3 MIDDLE LINEBACKER RATINGS
Traditional inside MLB's suited for a single inside set. capable to defend both run and pass efficiently. Often QB of defense so intelligence vital piece of the puzzle. GREAT size, excellent quickness, elite closing speed , great strength, elite tackling ability, shows traits that could make him a premier run defender, has tools to become a blitz force that would need to be schemed for. Rarely asked to pass cover in college but certainly has all the tools necessary for the job, will just need some time.

Elite instincts, elite football IQ, high motor, complete understanding of defense, will easily learn audibles and run the defense, total team 1st player, Coach on the field, likely to embrace special teams, these traits will be the key to his success. Negatives, he is a marginal NFL ,below-average quickness, speed, agility. His success or failure will ride a tight line and depend on system he is drafted into. I think he will find a home.
5.K J Britt Aub 6-0 236 75 Late 5th Undersized, high motor, high football IQ, high character team leader. Good athlete, very strong, average quickness and speed. Will need to rely on effort and instincts to excel. Will need to contribute on special teams to stick around more than few years.
7.Richard McBryde SMU 6-1 232 72 Mid 6th Former SEC recruit who found success in lesser conference. Very quick and plus speed, show excellent instintcs finding the ball, very strong against the run, show flashes of excellent blitz ability, will need work in pass coverage but has all the tools.
8.Cameron McGrone Mich 6-1 232 71 Late 6th OVERRATED ALERT!!!! Most like him better than I do. Good athlete, strength, very quick and shows good speed. Intincts are average, solid in run defense, shows some blitz potential but very limited in pass coverage ability. Some like him outside but his lack of length will be more glaring outside, it's here or nowhere. He really should have returned to school and worked on weaknesses.
9.Rashad Byrd GaSou 6-0 230 70 Early 7th Small conference multi-year starter. High character, high motor tackle machine, shows excellent instincts in pass coverage with 5 career int's.
10.Max Richardson BColl 5-11 230 68 Late 7th Undersized 5 year player, high motor, high football IQ, classic overachiever with average measurables, shows great instincts, finds the ball and finishes, show ssom blitz potential, very limited in coverage. 2021 3-4 INSIDE LINBACKER POSTITION OVERVIEW/ OVERALL RATING D+
This position is only slightly better than the 4-3 MLB's. I see no players worthy of the 1st round but the position has a little more overall depth and developmental prospects. Many of these prospects played multiple or different positions all together but have the pathetic ability to make the move inside. Some you will find rated elsewhere on other evaluators lists but I see there best opportunity for success here. 3-4 INSIDE LINEBACKERPlayers best suited for a set with two inside LB's, very strong as run stoppers but can be a liability against the pass. With many college teams playing 4-2-5 defenses there are more players suited for this position than the traditional MLB.

1.Zaven Collins Tuls 6-4 260 89 Early 2nd Collins was a struggle for me, where does he fit best? 4-3 DE 3-4 OLB size, but not the skill set for either, Has great size, strength, quickness and agility, has good not elite top end speed and this will limit him in coverage at NFL level, shows excellent ball tracking skills, shows great ball skills in pass coverage and understands his responsibilities, problem is while very short area quick he is somewhat limited by average top end speed, best fit will be in a Zone coverage scheme more athletic RB's will be a tough matchup, while there have been a few flashes his overall pass rush game is marginal at best, much work will be needed here even on the inside. Best on the inside where his strength, tackle ability will be best utilized, his primary coverage responsibility will be TE and his blitz responsibility will be considerably less.
2.Nick Bolton Mo 6-0 232 87 Late 2nd Another player who will need the right fit for maximum success. I see him on the inside in a 3-4 or 4-2-5 set. A very aggressive athletic tackle machine, excellent quickness, excellent strength, strong tackler, quick, decisive and violent, tracks ball very well, shows excellent instintcs in run game, shows some pass coverage skills but top end speed is average, athletic running backs will be a difficult matchup, TE's will also be very tough for him due to height, limited in pass rush and will need work, limited closing speed for the position, undersized for the position. Has played some on the outside. To good against the run not to find a home, the key to his career is finding the correct scheme and coaching staff. should develop into a premier run defender who will need some patience and hard work.
3.Baron Browning OSU 6-3 240 84 Late 3rd The continuing theme of this position is ranking players who could play multiple positions. Former elite recruit who struggled to stay on the field for a few years. His career has been more flashes than consistency. Ideal size, great quickness, speed, athletic ability, itmpressive burs and closing speed when on the play, he has shown inticing potential in pass rush situations , again flashes of dominance in run game but has problems with ball tracking at times. Will need work in coverage but certainly has all the tools for the job. I still question where he fits, could be here could be outside pass rusher in 3-4, coaching and his accepting it will be key.
4.Pete Werner OSU 6-3 242 82 Early 4th Multi year starter, excellent quickness, speed, strength, ideal frame, likely will make his living on 3rd down in passing situations, has Strong Safety ability in coverage and LB size. He can run with most RB's and has the size and speed to stay on TE's. He was not asked to blitz that often but certainly has all the tools to develop that skill with some solid coaching. While heady and solid in run game oddly with his quickness he often can be had by more athletic RB's thus limiting his snaps. Very likely with his size, speed, attitude he will become special teams monster increasing his value and length of career.
5.Errol Thompson Miss St 6-1 250 78 Late 4th UNDERRATED ALERT!! I'm a bit higher than most and wildly higher than some on Thompson. Big, great strength, powerful, violent downhill multi-year starter, can be dominant and intimidating in run game, has the size and strength to hold the point with most OL, gets penetration, has shown blitz potential. But that's it, struggles mightily with coverage in college, will need to come off the field in passing situations for at least the near future and possibly for his entire career. 2 down player for now and useless in 2 minute offense situations. He has the skills to play special teams, he will need to develop those to stick around the NFL long.
6.Quincy Roche Mia(F) 6-4 235 77 Early 5th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!! Former DE in college, doesn't have the size or strength for that position, Elite speed and quickness, wildly athletic, strength average at best and will need to improve to succeed even at this position, great size for this position, show great ability for penetration and finishing, pass rush skills are limited to speed rush, he will need more. Will have to start as a two down player or pass rush specialist as he has no coverage ability but has the tools. Will also need to play special teams, has the skills to be elite there.
7.DeAngelo Malone WKy 6-4 235 75 Late 5th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! Another college DE, Long athletic player with excellent quickness and speed, will need to work on strength for longevity. Multi year starter in lesser conference but was highly productive, uses excellent frame and long arms to be a very effective tackler and uses quickness to gain penetration and finish. Very little experience in pass coverage but certainly has all the tools for the job. Will likely have to start career as a pass rush specialist and special teamer but has tools to be a great developmental prospect.
8.Buddy Johnson TxAM 6-2 230 72 Mid 6th Interesting developmental prospect. Good size, very good quickness, speed and athletic ability, Multi year starter in SEC. Consistent tackler, shows good range but was limited in pass rush opportunities. Consistently strong in run game throughout career and showed some improved rush and coverage ability last season.
9.Derrick Barnes Pur 6-1 245 71 Late 6th Thick, powerful thumper. victim of poor coaching and scheme fit causing poor development. Excelent strength, good short area quickness with marginal closing speed. Tracks ball well and solid finisher, will need to be a 2 down player as he has very little pass coverage skills and has limited athletic ability for vast improvement. Will need to embrace special team to stick around more than a few years.
10.Zane Zander Vir 6-2 230 70 Mid 7th Better player than measurables, acceptable size and strength but lacking in quickness and closing speed. Classic overachiever who is very technically sound, likely a player to embrace special teams, motor has one speed and never stops will do any and all dirty work needed and coach favorite.
11.Rayshard Ashby VaTe 5-10 237 69 Mid 7th Compact, thick tackle machine, very strong, decent quickness but limited top end. demon in run game but a liability even in college game in coverage, lack of height and short arms vcauses issues. Will need to be special teams monster and career backup to stick around.
12.Boogie Watson Ky 6-3 248 68 Late 7th SLEEPER ALERT!! Ideal size and athletic ability, average strength at best. Other worth a FA training camp invite. A college career filled with taunting flashes of what could be. If lives in the weight room and accepts quality coaching while spending a year on practice squad he could be a major surprise.

4-3 OUTSIDE LINEBACKERPOSITION OVERVIEW/OVERALL RATING D
With the present trend in CFB for few teams to play a traditional 4-3 set as a base it has created an interesting situation evaluating this position as the top two prospects are developmental players and both changed positions in college. Then we move into players with either injury issues position changes or smaller conference studs who will need time to adjust.
4-3 OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS
trong run defenders with pass coverage ability , pass rush and blitz skills a must.

1.Chazz Surratt NCar 6-3 230 90 Late 1st Recruited as Athete and started at QB as redshirt frosh. Good size, surprising quickness, acceptable speed and great agility, needs to continue to gain strength as he is still average at best there, highly productive player. and is still learning the position. QB background is a plus, excellent football IQ, understands the game better than most. Tremendous natural instincts and timing, excels at ball tracking and anticipation. Unique developmental prospect, rates a high pick but still shows unlimited room for improvement. Some see him inside and that is a possibility, his skill set will translate to any defense and most LB schemes. Very versatile player, great value at this point.
2.J Owusu Kormoah N D 6-2 220 87 Late 2nd More of an Athlete and project than finished product. Will need to find the correct scheme fit. Undersized former Safety, played popular Hybrid position in college using athleticism to make splash plays. Tremendous quickness, speed and athletic ability. Solid against run, tracks ball well and safety background makes him a asset in coverage. Pass rush skills are VERY limited , using his speed and athletic ability, those skills will not get him by at NFL level, he will need some time, hard work and patience. He really should have returned to school to work on his weak points but these days most players have difficulty seeing the big picture.
3.Jabril Cox LSU 6-4 231 78 Late 4th Ideal size, excellent quickness, speed, and athletic ability needs some work in the strength department. Former small college stud who played one year in SEC, the transition was uneven at best, while dominant in FCS the overall speed was a difficult task for him to overcome consistency. while he has the closing speed to run down plays his strength issue caused struggles against the run, he can be easily taken out of the play by decent OL. Pass rush skills are limited and will need serious attention, best asset is in coverage, speed, athletic ability along with tremendous ball skills make him a force there.Has all the tools to excel but will likely be a 3rd down player for at least a year or two.
4.Justin Hilliard OSU 6-1 232 76 Mid 5th INJURY ALERT!!! SLEEPER ALERT!!! Former 5 star recruit who had his college career almost completely derailed by numerous injuries. 5 year player who finally started seeing regular duty late in 4th season. Showed great quickness and speed even after the injuries along with plus strength.. Great antisapation and instincts, quickly diagnoses run game and finishes well, very limited pass rush skills, showed great promise in coverage, very good ball skills, solid in zone and man. With his injury history the risk/reward factor is obvious but at this point worth the gamble.5.Tony Fields W V 6-1 225 75 Late 5th Undersized tackle machine, tremendous quickness and closing speed and superb ball tracking will make him valuable against run game, he has the physical tools but very limited pass rush skills, will be able to handle RB's in coverage but TE's with a size advantage will be a struggle at best. His skill set will translate perfectly into being a special teams star
6.JaCoby Stevens LSU 6-2 230 74 Early 6th SLEEPER ALERT!!! Recruited as a WR, bounced around some but played more Safety at LSU than near the line, excellent quickness, speed agility for LB, marginal for SS so I see his best fit in Will position. Strong explosive tackler, above average ball tracking skills, has shown flashes of pass rush ability. His main positive is in coverage where his DB skills will come into play, has speed to stay with any assignment and excellent ball skills. Another athlete who's skillset translates impressively to special teams, he may have to make it there while he gets stronger and gains experience at LB.
7.Grant Stuard Hou 6-1 225 72 Mid 6th Undersized highly versatile player. Has played nickle as well as LB. Average quickness, speed, strength and agility, he will make it on being a high football IQ, tenacious overachiever with a non stop motor! Mainly a tackle machine at this point but has shown ability in coverage, was not used in blitz situations often so skill are very limited. Already has special teams experience and will certainly embrace playng there in NFL. Likely never a starter but a vevaluablrsitile player.
8.Riley Cole SAla 6-3 230 70 Early 7th INJURY ALERT!!! Well built athletic player with average quickness and very good closing speed. Excellent ball tracker and finisher, limited in coverage, will need development in blitz situations, shows the skills to excel on special teams.
9.Jamin Davis Ky 6-4 235 68 Late 7th OVERRRATED ALERT!!! I've seen this ONE YEAR WONDER rated much higher by most. These ratings are based on his ridiculous measurables and testing numbers. Prototypical size , and off the charts quickness for that size, excellent closing speed and agility, below average strength and power. Struggles to get through traffic, has no real pass rush skills and inconsistent in coverage despite very good ball skills. Really started to show potential last season, should have returned to school for another season.
10.Cameron Goode Cal 6-3 235 Late 7th Great size, good quickness, speed, agility overall average athletically. Shows promise as a pass rush with 12.5 sacks last two seasons in including this past very short one. Solid in run defense, show some ball skills in coverage. Has skills for special teams work to help there.
Others worth a FA camp invite

Dorian Etheridge Louis 6-3 230 4 year contributor. Good size, athlete and production in ACC
Blake Gallagher N W 6-0 235 Multi-year starter, great production, limited athlete
Zayne Anderson BYU 6-2 220 Another intriguing former Safety, shows multi position versatility.
2021 3-4 OUTSIDE LINBACKER OVERVIEW/OVERALL RATING D
Another position with no 1st round talent in my opinion. That said I'll be surprised if none of these players get drafted there. Of course that's why NFL teams fail on draft day more than they succeed, POOR EVALUATION! I will not be swayed by others opinions and come back every three ayearsnd review my picks, most other evaluators would rather not do that.
3-4 OUTSIDE LINEBACKER
Usually larger LB's many were speed DE's in college. Must excel in pass rush and blitz situations, but often not the best run defenders.

1.Joseph Ossai Tex 6-4 255 89 Early 2nd Prototypical size, tremendous quickness, eliot closing speed and athletic ability, great frame and very strong. Moved around Tx defense causing uneven development. Elite run defender, excellent ball tracking, identifies quickly and attacks, tremendous closer, violent tackler, has shown flashes of elite pass rush ability, relentless, incredible burst, stronger than he looks, all the tools but again was held back due to poor coaching. Will need considerable work and patience in coverage keeping him from 1st round status. He certainly has all the tools to excel at that as well. Great developmental prospect likely to be drafted in 1st round adding pressure to his development.
2.Azeez Ojulari Ga 6-3 240 88 Mid 2nd Another lightning-quick athlete with elite closing speed and rare agility. Plays much stronger than size suggests, relentless pass rusher, great hands, surprising lower body drive, unique balance keeps focus on QB and elite finisher. Show flashes of elite ability in run game, solid ball tracker, strength to take on blocks and make plays somewhat inconsistent though. Very little expirience in pass coverage but certainly has the tools to be at the very least serviceable and potentially far better than that. Actully a quite undeveloped prosect with unlimited upside
3.Charles Snowden Vir 6-7 240 84 Late 3rd Rare length, average quickness, better closing speed tan most believe, average strength, shows great instincts and football IQ. While he needs to improve strength he has shown consistent ability to effect the passing lanes with overall length. Solid in run defense, gets penetration , height helps with excellent ball tracking, long arms create wide tackle radius. Has shown excellent ability in coverage on TE's and in zone defenses, will need considerable work or help in man schemes. Rare length again will come in valuable on special teams and he has experience there.
4.Kuony Deng Cal 6-6 245 81 Early 4th SLEEPER ALERT!!! Elite size and length, very good strength, former basketball player has light feet, excellent agility, surprising quickness and closing speed. Shows great ball tracking skills, uses hands Has all the tools to be elite but has not shown them regularly just taunting flashes over the past two seasonswell and has impressive natural footwork from Bball background. Great developmental prospect ignored by most other evaluators. He REALLY should have taken advantage of the bonus year and returned to school for another season of development
5.Patrick Johnson Tula 6-2 260 76 Mid 5th College DE and occasionally DT also did some limited work in two point stance. High motor relentless effort player. Great strength, above average quickness, average closing speed surprising athlete for size. Underrated pass rush skills, 24.5 sacks in three years uses leverage well and shows. solid functional strength. Gets good penetration in run game,39.5 TFL's in three seasons. Tracks ball well and finishes. Will need considerable work in coverage but has dropped of in short zones so it will not be a total new expirience
.6.Shaka Toney PennSt 6-3 236 75 Late 5th Undersized high motor player. 4 year contributor very athletic, excellent quickness and closing speed, needs to spend some time in the weightroom. At this point he will need to be a sitsuational pass rusher and special teamer, shows good instincts in run game, uses speed and tenacity to get penetration but disappears against better OL. Offers very little in coverage but has the tools to to become adequate at least. Solid developmental player with considerable upside.
7.Hamilcar Rashed OreSt 6-3 245 74 Early 6th Followed huge '19 season of 14 sacks and 22.5 TFL's buy being almost invisible in the shortened '20 season, this is a concern. Great frame, long arms, below-average strength, very good quickness, good speed and agility. Has shown good penetration solid in run defense due to high motor, struggles with top OL and double teams. Has shown flashes in limed coverage situations. Good late round value , with strong coaching he could easily develop into a solid rotational piece.
8.JaQuan Bailey IowaSt 6-2 255 73 Mid 6th High effort overachiever, played primarily DE in college but did drop into short zones for some coverage experience. Relentless motor gets him into the run game and to the QB, 25.5 sacks and 44.5 TFL over career. High character, high football IQ and well coached player who will likely embrace any and all special teams , he will needs that persistence to have a NFL career.
9.Chris Rumph Dk 6-4 235 70 Early 7th SLEEPER ALERT!! Primarily DE in college but was moved around. While undersized for DE his frame is great here, excellent quickness and solid closing speed, long arms and average strength that will need to improve. VERY limited coverage ability due to rarely being asked to do more than rush. Looks to have the skill set to handle the position , will need patience and solid coaching but High football IQ and alone with solid work ethic and character makes him an excellent developmental gamble.,
10.Alani Putulau AdSt 6-2 242 68 Late 7th Dominant DII stud, very RAW, more of an "athlete" at this point but film shows an intriguing one to say the least. Great size, solid strength, excellent quickness, speed and surprising agility. Worth a late draft pick to avoid the FA derby for him, many teams miss this point.

2021 CORNERBACK POSITION OVERVIEW/OVERALL GRADE B
Very solid and deep class this season both on the outside and in the slot. Variety of styes, big strong corners, speed demons technical wizards, big and small slot players with all types of game. Numerous of interesting developmental prospects.
OUTSIDE CORNERBACKSThis year I will continue to split up the CB position, with evolution the NFL game has created a need for both outside and inside CB's with both requiring specific skills. Sucess at one does not automatically guarantee success at the other. Outside CB's will need long speed as well as short are quickness and will be evaluated accordingly. They also need at the least adequate run support skills, be adept in press man coverage as well a variety of zone schemes
.Rank Name Sch Ht Wt Rtg Draft Value 1.Patrick Surtain Ala 6-2 203 94 Mid 1st Prototypical size, long lean frame, long arms, thick powerful with excellent quickness and elite top end speed. Excellent strength, elite agility, smooth athleticism, and instincts along with no fear of run support. Player shows excellent ability in press coverage and college teams rarely threatened any zone he was covering. Father was a NFL CB so he has been groomed since birth, that combined with 3 years of Saban has resulted in an absurdly high football IQ. All-around complete player only a few minor flaws away from attaining a top rating. Plug in and play for a decade.
2.Caleb Farley VaTec 6-2 207 92 Mid 1st INJURY ALERT!!! Another with elite size. Former 3 star HS QB who has moved to the other side of the ball and found his true calling. Elite quickness and speed, great size, improving strength, shows at times remarkable agility, tremendous change of direction. His time as QB has provided him with a unique level of understanding in pass game. This translates into excellent anticipation and rare instincts. He is fully willing I n run support but will require some coaching there but he has shown he will accept it. All this and remember he has only played two seasons, the upside is unlimited. The only flaw is a possibly questionable back injury that has required two surgeries. He has been cleared but I know from personal experience the uncertainty of back injuries.
3.Greg Newsome N W 6-1 190 90 Late 1st Long lean athletic CB who is just scratching the surface of his potential. 3 year contributor who has shown marked improvement yearly, shows rare work ethic evolving from a skinny 3 star recruit to this lofty status. Excellent quickness, long speed, agility, elite change of direction and anticipation. Tremendous instincts and execution. Shows excellent press ability, seems best in man defense but will certainly adapt to any zone scheme, he shows decent ball skills and breaks up numerous passes but I would like to see more than 1 INT in his career. more than willing in run support and shows ability to be quite effective there. Well coached, hard working student of the game with tremendous upside.
4.Jaycee Horn SCar 6-1 205 89 Early 2nd Yet another with ideal size, great strength, excellent quickness, speed and rare agility. Highly physical player. Show solid press ability, has all the athletic ability need to succeed in any scheme good in overall man played simple zone coverage schemes and should have better numbers. He gets to a lot of balls but only had 2 INT over three years. can be over aggressive at times causing flags and be sure NFL DC's will not stand for that long so he will need to harness his play. With his size and physical nature he could develop into a premier edge run support player. Fine athlete, very physical with nasty streak, lots to work with here.
5.Paulson Adebo Stan 6-1 192 87 Late 2nd UNDERRATED ALERT!! Excellent size, average quickness and speed, great strength and agility. 8 INT's and 38 PBU's in two seasons, there is no way to achieve those numbers without elite ball skills. His lack of quickness/speed makes him rely on instincts, antisipation and technique for success. History shows that this combination can be very productive but the line is fine. Likely best in a primarily zone coverage defense, and as a CB3in obvious passing situations. Has the size and strength for man but could be challenged by lack of elite speed. Smart long lean framed player who will need to work hard to stretch every ounce of speed from his body that is there.
6.Eric Stokes Ga 6-1 185 86 Early 3rd OVERRRATED ALERT!! Great size quickness, speed, agility and strength. Has all the tools and should have gone back to school to refine his game. Does not show elite level quickness/speed to me, tests faster than he plays. Has all the tools but needs to get those to the field consistently. Show flashes in both man and zone defenses along with run support but again has not been consistent. Like many physically talented players lots of flash but not the numbers to back it up. I'll put him here , many others have him in 1st round but I"m not all in on the risk/reward factor.
7.Camryn Bynum Cal 6-0 200 84 Late 3rd UNDERRATED ALERT!!! 4 year starter, 2 year Captain, high character, high football IQ, solid consistent player. Average quickness, speed strength and overall athletic ability. Makes plays on anticipation and technique, never out of position, coach on the field. Classic overachiever who has limited measurables but an excellent work ethic, complete team player. Highly skilled player who gets the most out of what he has, drafting this guy ensures you will get maximum effort, likely never more than a CB3/4 but also likely a career as a core special teamer and solid team 1st player.
8.Tyson Campbell Ga 6-2 185 82 Early 4th OVERRATED ALERT!!! Prototypical frame, long lean, long arms, loose hips, elite quickness, speed and athletic ability. Shows shut down ability in man, has the speed to be a monster in zone and appears very willing in run support. Has shown flashes of being and elite player but yet to gain the consistency needed to warrant the draft position many have him evaluated at. He will likely get drafted much higher than my evaluation,of course this happens consistently every year.
9.Kelvin Joseph Ky 6-1 197 79 Late 4th Former LSU lofty recruit who transferred and played one short season ay Kentucky. Great production in that season but as is the prevailing theme he has no business being in this draft. Great size, strength, excellent quickness, speed and athletic ability. Long frame, long arms, fluid hips, greatfootwork. He has all the tools but in dire need of refinement. Its highly questionable if he will get the patience needed for development.
10.Ambry Thomas Mich 6-0 182 78 Late 4th One year starter who opted out last season. Excellent quickness, speed and athlete. Very strong for size, looks to have great potential press coverage skill and seems very willing in run support. Limited resume is the biggest problem here and that's why he is down the list. He had no business decaring this season , should have gone back to school. Has raw talent but needs work in every aspect. Who the hell advises some of these kids?
11.Darren Hall SDST 6-0 180 77 Early 5th Highly productive multi year starter, very good size and length, above average quickness, speed and athletic ability. Show excellent ball skills. Has some technical problems and has shown some inconsistency. Likely never more than a backup CB but with skill set and special teams potential he could become a valuable player.
12. DJ Daniel Ga 6-1 185 75 Late 5th More of an "athlete" than a true CB at this point. Has the size, quickness, speed and athletic ability but has only shown flashes over the past two seasons with very limited actual production. Yet another player who should have returned for another season.
13.Isaiah Dunn OreSt 6-0 193 71 Late 6th Multi year contributer.Good size, above average quickness, speed and athetic ability but not elite. Shows good instincts in run support, will never be more than a backup CB, limited ball skills, 0 INT's in career, looks like a developmental DB and special teamer.
14.Bryan Mills NCCen 6-2 180 70 Mid 7th Long athletic FCS player, very good quickness, speed and athletic numbers, shows some potential, with some consistent coaching and hard work he could evolve. Will need a practice squad spot foe at least a year. He attended two JC's and then across country to a FCS college in three seasons and opted out last year. Not sure what to think about that, resilience or impatience?

SLOT CORNERBACKS
A continued new position this year and all years to follow, NFL execs would do themselves a favor if they adopted this as well. Today's NFL with at least 3 WR's on the field most downs this has become an actual position and one I believe should be evaluated and drafted for. Short area quickness and "twitch" are both vital as well as effective tackling skills. Slot WR's can vary widely from larger framed leapers to diminutive "waterbug' types so versatility is paramount to excelling at this position. Many players are of the smaller and quick mode but you will also see a few larger players who I believe their skill sets fit better here. While these players will be valuable pieces of the defense, on the field quite often and at times entire games rarely will you find a player I consider solid 1st round value.

1.Elijah Molden Wash 5-10 191 87 Late 2nd Pure inside CB! Lacks outside Ht and top end speed, larger outside WR's will use size advantage and faster ones will run by him. Long speed is marginal at best but short area quickness and agility are excellent. Pound for pound very tough, despite size his functional strength for is impressive, tenacious, scrappy and uses excellent technique to control receiver, excellent in man to man close to the line of scrimmage using his skill set to accomplish goal. Can handle much larger TE's and Possession WR's. Will contribute in run support willingly but size limits the damage. Well coached multi year starter , also likely to be useful on special teams.
2.Shaun Wade OSU 6-1 195 86 Early 3rd Another player who should stay inside. Played there in '19 and excelled, moved outside in '20 and it was quite revealing. Great size, above average strength. excellent quickness but long speed is below average. hits peak speed in 1st ten yards then will start losing ground. Excellent at the line of scrimmage, excellent hands, uses strength and quick feet to his advantage, excellent football IQ, tremendous anticipation shows willingness in run support. He can be a very valuable player if used correctly, history tells us that is 50/50 with NFL execs and Coaching staffs. Try to play him outside and you will at the least fail to maximize your investment, likely more.
3.Asante Samuel FlaSt 5-10 184 84 Late 3rd OVERRATED ALERT!!! Another player who I rate much lower than others. Elite quickness, very good long speed and a excellent agility. Size limits him to maximum value on the inside working against slot WR's. Strength will be an issue with TE's. Show excellent technique, very good hands, lightning quick feet, change of direction and anticipation, excellent football IQ having been imersed in the game since a very young age by his father of the same name. Has the heart in the run game just lacks the ability to finish due to limited strength and poor technique, likely due to poor coaching over the years. Will likely be overdrafted and considered a Bust, he can be quite valuable if used correctly.
4.Thomas Graham Ore 5-10 193 82 Early 4th 3 year starter who opted out out in '20. Undersized for outside where others have him, I see him best inside. Solid well built frame, very good quickness , good not great long speed, very good strength , good feet, solid technique . 32 PBU's and 8 INT's in three season show excellent ball skills and reaction, also averaged over 60 tackles per season so he is very willing in run support. His production is much better than his timed speed it measureables. He is an overachiever with a high motor, scrappy and tenacious, his skill set will be exposed outside but could be valuable inside if used correctly.
5.Aaron Robinson UCF 6-0 193 80 Mid 4th OVERRATED ALERT!!! Former Bama recruit. More of an "Athlete" playing CB than a finished product. Great size, Excellent quickness, and agility, above average long speed and strength, has all the tools but we have seen only flashes, taunting one though. Plays very physical and uses hands well and has light quick feet, long speed is not elite and would be exposed outside. Shows full interest in run support and has the attitude to be an asset there. Overall skill set best fits inside where everything is quicker and limited in range.
6.Olaijah Griffin USC 6-0 175 79 Mid 4th Former elite recruit. Slight build but excellent length, Very quick and agilie, only above average long speed, below average strength. Very smooth and shows excellent feet along with change of direction ability. Shows very good instintcs in man coverage and uses good technique. A bit of a developmental project as he will need to get stronger and improve his hand use, limited speed tells me his best chance is inside.
7.Deommodore Lenoir Ore 5-10 203 78 Late 4th Very physical, very quick high motor player. Measurables and testing numbers will not impress but watch his game tape. Very strong, compact frame enables his physical play, great use of hands, quick and solid footwork in short area, uses leverage well, a true tenacious scrapper who plays to the whistle. Fully committed and very effective in run support. Also has the makeup to be an outstanding special teams asset.
8.Ar'Darius Washington TCU 5-8 175 76 Mid 5th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! Had no business declaring for draft! Wildly undersized for his primary position of Safety his only chance is here. He has the tools to be effective in certain packages. Show excellent ball skills, lightning quick but very limited long speed, good strength and agility. Will need to start out as special teams monster to stick and then learn this position to have any chance at longevity. Who advises these kids???
9.Avery Williams BoiSt 5-9 188 75 Late 5th Undersized outside CB who will need to move inside . Shows solid man skills, tremendous short area quickness, surprising long speed and excellent change of direction. Primary negative issue with his game is length and with the wealth of taller WR's now that problem is significant. His large ace in the hole and what moves him up 2 rounds is his almost 2000 return yards and 9 TD's in 4 seasons. That will find him a spot.
10.Mark Gilbert Dk 6-1 175 74 Early 6th INJURY ALERT!!! SLEEPER ALERT!! A rare double ALERT prospect but warranted. Showed tremendous promise, excellent quickness and speed, great agility and good strength. This was '17 when he had 6 INT's and 14PBU's lost '18 and '19 to hip injury and played a few game last season the injured his foot and lost the rest of the season. Looks healthy now but for how long? worth a late round flyer for sure.
11.Tre Brown Okl 5-10 186 72 Mid 6th 4 year contributor, Very quick active defender. Very good production, over 30 PBU'sand 4 INT's. Shows very good instincts, despite size very willing and productive in run game. Abilities translate into great potential special teams ace. Hard working mature player with solid skill set and certainly worth long look. Possible Practice squad candidate.
12.Kary Vincent LSU 5-10 189 70 Early 7th Lightnight quick with great testing numbers. Needs to play as fast as he is. Needs to gain strength and show consistent interest in run support. Shows struggles staying focused on deep routes but has shown potential in man to man situations telling me that his been spot is inside where his quickness can be used best. Will need to show ability on special teams as it will take some patient coaching to bring out the athlete within. Worth a Practice Squad spot for season to see what is there.
13.Marco Wilson Fla 6-0 190 69 Late 7th Great frame and length, very good quickness, speed, strength and agility. Fine all around athlete who played outside until last season. His production was very inconsistent. Shows better traits instincts for inside work where his athletic ability will leave him little time to think, just enough to react. Developmental player who will need to contribute heavily on special teams to stick.
14.Shakur Brown MichSt 5-10 185 68 Late 7th WHY?? Yes sure 5 INT"s this past season but why on earth declare?? But he has and his opportunity is now. Solid build, very good short area quickness, shows solid basic technique but need refinement. Solid is the word and it covers him in most aspects. He will need to embrace and contribute on special teams to garner a roster spot and some time to develop. Another season and he likely moves up at least 3 rounds, his odds of a second contract are slim. Who advises these kids???
15.Rodarius Williams OklSt 6-0 192 67 PFA Good size for position, average strength, very quick but marginal long speed. Shows solid technique and held his own in the defenseless Big 12. Played outside in college but shows better skill set for inside work, has shown good basic man ability. Will need to embrace and contribute on special teams to make a team.
2021 STRONG SAFETY POSITION OVERVIEW/OVERALL GRADE D
One possible star and several with developmental possibilities. Days 2 and 3 will be interesting for this position, several players with some sort of a red flag but with significant upside. Their development will be reliant on being drafted into the correct scheme or if NFL talent evaluators can see the raw potential in several. As usual some will be over drafted and some players will be picked with the intent of playing them where they will not realize the potential they possess.
STRONG SAFETIES
Strongside of the field close to the line of scrimage, run stuffers, coverage skills will vary but versatility to cover TE,RB,an Slot WR's are a major plus. A position the NFL types continually miss on, usually missing on projection of talent.

1.Hamsah Nasirildeen FlaSt 6-4 215 90 Late 1st UNDERRATED ALERT!! INJURY ALERT!! Rare size and unique athletic ability for that size. He was a sure 1st rounder last season before he blew up his knee, why not now? Well you must ask the others that. I see a rare combination of size, excellent quickness, speed and athleticism. Shows no fear in run game, another LB on the field, strong enough to fight through blocks and agile enough to go around them when necessary. Show excellent instincts in that phase of the game and is a confident and solid finisher. Not asked to blitz at FSU due to scheme but should be highly efficient there. While he has all the tools to at least be solid and likely better with coaching pass coverage will need some work and that's why I have him here rather than FS. He has the skills now to handle TE's and RB's but NFL WR's in the deep zones would be another thing. His knee was not up to speed last season and each player is different, my bet is he will be fine , drafted later than this and be termed a STEAL>
2.Talanoa Hufanga USC 6-1 215 85 Mid 3rd INJURY ALERT!!! Great frame, big hitter with the perfect mentality for the position. Very quick with excellent strength and limited long speed. Show good instincts, solid technique and still improving ball skills in coverage, 4 INT's in shortened '20 season, can handle TE's and RB's when needed his very limited long speed will be a problem if someone tries to play him in the back, has experience in blitz situations and success, 6.5 sacks in last 16 games . Vicious in run game, violent attacker who keeps his head focused on the ball, tracks very well and finishes with authority. This violent play has led to several injuries that have taken him off the field, if not for that I would grade him around higher.
3.Richie Grant USF 6-1 200 84 Late 3rd Undersized SS who could also have success at FS. I just see his best fit here as a hybrid type player. He is a player who will need to rely on his excellent coverage skills to excel. He will need to get drafted into the correct scheme that plays him here in a versatile role to maximize his talents. Elite quickness, speed, agility for the position, excellent coverage skills, has the speed to cover Slot WR's as well as any TE or RB in the league. Showed excellent ball skills with 10 INT's and 14 PBU's in the last 3 seasons including last years shortened one. Shows excellent instincts and production in run game, plays bigger than he is, uses excellent anticipation and execution to finish. Should be a highly versatile part of some team for a long time.
4.Jamien Sherwood Aub 6-1 220 79 Mid 4th Elite size, great strength and quickness, only average long speed at best. Really only a one year full-time starter who made great strides this past season. Already a monster in the run game where he plays with a LB mentality, excellent instincts and anticipation, great tracking ability, excellent tackle radius, great finisher. When it came to coverage he improved every facet of his coverage game, frequently making plays but he still has a long way to go to get to NFL level and will need to continue that trend to make it in NFL that's why I cannot understand why he declared early. Have I mentioned I wonder who the hell advises these Kids??
5.Ifeatu Melifonwu Syr 6-3 215 76 Mid 5th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!! SLEEPER ALERT!!! College CB who will not ever be more than a CB4 there. He should use his superior for this position coverage skills to dominate TE's and RB's. He could also slide in and handle slot WR's and be very effective in 5 and 6 DB sets. Used size , instincts, quickness and a wide tackle radius to be a highly effective run game supporter. Most would move his to FS or keep him as a backup CB but I see him here as a highly athletic and versatile performer who could develop into a star. but at this position , NOT CB!
6.Divine Deablo VaTc 6-3 225 75 Late 5th SLEEPER ALERT!!! Recruited as a WR, moved full time to DB and has been on the rise since. Still more of an "Athlete" at this point. Smooth very quick player with impressive closing speed, still needs to get stronger. Relies on athleticism to make plays rather than fully learning the position. Solid in run game, uses size andagility to move through blocks and finishes. Looks like a natural in coverage but needs considerable refinement. He has all the measurables, the skills to be a very good NFL player for a long time, just needs the right team and schemme.
7.Caden Stearns Tex 6-0 205 73 Mid 6th CHARACTER ALERT!!! Very good size, excellent quickness, speed and athleticism. Exploded on scene with huge Freshman year, he has stagnated at best, I'd say taken a step or two backward. Used athletic ability to snag 4 INT's that Fresh year so the raw ability is there, the key is getting into his head. Also he has shown some disinterest in run game. Big time athlete who may never live up to his once lofty status. And yet another player who had no business coming out early, a gamble at for sure but all late round picks are, this one has the ability, question is can you get into his head
.8.Mark Webb Ga 6-1 210 72 Late 6th Interesting athletic player who was recruited as a WR, played CB, and S while in school and never really cracked the starting line up full time, but one must consider the talent there. Played regularly in multi DB sets and showed flashes. Average quickness and better long speed, very good strength and agility for SS. As with most former WR's he shows some decent ball skills but very raw. and inconsistent. Played extensively on special teams and that will help his chances of sticking around long enough to find some consistency.
9.Brendon White Rut 6-2 215 71 Late 6th Former Ohio St "athlete"recruit, split time between WR and DB there showed great promise in '18 as DB there but decided to transfer to Rutgers. Versatile player with Prototypical frame, athletic but quickness and speed are only average. Should provide help on special teams. I could see a move to Will LB position also. Intersting developmental prospect.
10.Aashari Crosswell AzSt 6-0 205 70 Early 7th CHARACTER ALERT!!! Very good size, very strong player with average quickness and speed. Very physical in coverage and has experience as a nickle CB also. Shows good man skills and decent in zone but lack of elite quickness and speed limits his game. Still 6 INT's and 19 PBU's over 1st two years show he understands how to get in position to overcome his limited physical abilities The key to his future is translating his game to NFL where the margins will be finer to say the least. The character concern comes from Coach Herm Edwards suspending him for all but one game in the '20 season, that needs to be addressed!
11.J R Pace N W 6-1 210 69 Mid 7th Great size, adequate quickness, speed, strength and athlete for SS position, well coached high motor multi year starter. very productive solid high footall IQ player 8 career INT's and over 160 tackles in past 3 seasons.
12.Nick Pickett Ore 6-1 210 68 Late 7th Another mature, heady multi-year starter with high football IQ. Limited ball skills but shows solid production in run support. Looks to have excellent potential on special teams and as versatile back up.
Others worth a FA camp invite
Tyree Gillepsie Mo 6-0 210 Multi year starter, has tools to be backup/special teams demon. Dwayne Johnson SDSt 6-2 215 Great size, versatile 4 year contributor, could play Will LB
Shawn Davis Fla 5-11 200 Quick well built multi year starter, 5 INT's last two seasons
Markus Murphy Miss St 6-1 200 Athletic one year starter, should be back at school.
LaMont Wade PennSt 5-9 190 Former lofty CB recruit, fits better as versatile Safety
2021 FREE SAFETY POSITION OVERVIEW /OVERALL GRADE C+
Solid talent at the position this season, Only a single round one prospect and a good one. Days 2/3 look loaded with interesting prospects. To me one of the most overlooked talent harvesting measures is finding players who played out of position in college. One of the easiest moves is for oversized CB's to transition to FS. This often happens at the end of players careers to extend their value but I propose it should happen FAR more often at the beginning of a players career. Most of these players can become critical components on special teams while they learn the nuances of the FS position. Seems logical use of resources in the Salary cap era.

1.Trevon Moerhig TCU 6-2 208 90 Late 1st Great size, Excellent quickness, tremendous long speed good strength. At best in a true center field position where he can use his speed and excellent ball skills best. Needs work in man, right now not a player you want near the line in coverage but has the tools to learn the job. Uses speed well in run game, quick to diagnose, shows excellent ball tracking skills, excells at working through traffic and finishing the play. Not the big hitting head hunter you want but gets the job done. Very solid well coached prospect who could have used another year in school to refine his skills, it still should not take long before he is starting
.2.Jevon Holland Ore 6-1 200 88 Mid 2nd Average size, quickness, speed and athletic ability. While not the great athlete most want he his excellent production was attained by using his superior Football IQ and high effort. 9 INT's in two season does not happen by accident, he will always be in position, superior anticipation technique. The top player at this position in terms of diagnostic speed. Plays quicker than he will test, a;ways seems to be at the ball. Uses is IQ to continually be a factor in run game, while not a big hitter he gets the job done. Great all around "coach on the field" type player that the team will love.
3.Andre Cisco Syr 6-0 206 85 Mid 3rd SLEEPER ALERT!!! INJURY ALERT!!!! Good size, great quickness, speed and average strength. Torn ACL early in '20 that will likely have an effect on '21. Before injury the high effort, highly aggressive player had 13 INT's and 16 PBU's in 24 games, that production is one of the best in NCAA during that period. Uses speed, Football IQ, antisipation and tremendous ball skills to make plays. Very solid in run game, quick to diagnose and react, solid but not great finisher, good technique and ball tracking skills, could be better in run game. Even with his likely missing some of '21 and likely not being himself all season there is to much to pass on, if you can wait a year. Had he returned to school and continued to play at pre injury levels even for a short season he could have been in round one
.4.Paris Ford Pitt 6-0 190 84 Late 3rd UNDERRATED ALERT!!! I rate him higher than others and I like him better here than SS. Very quick and tenacious defender. Has the quickness needed to cover WR and will matchup with larger TE's using his physical nature to make up for size. Quick to diagnose the run game, react and put himself in the play then he will finish. Showed improvement each year in coverage and run support, 6 INT's, 14 PBU's and almost 150 tackles in the last two seasons, that include only 7 games in '20. I'm big on production and those numbers do not come without effort. Yet another player who would have a higher grade by using the year he had left.
5.James Wiggins Cin 6-0 205 82 Early 4th SLEEPER ALERT!!! Showed great promise with abig'18, lost'19 to ACL injury and was not completely healed last season, it showed. Good size with very good quickness, average strength and excellent closing speed, Quick to diagnose and use speed to get to the ball and use excellent ball skills, 4 INT's in '18. Shows good instincts and solid technique in run game, not the biggest guy and he will not back down from any player but does need help with finishing on some RB's. all around solid player with excellent special teams potential. If healthy he could blossom into a very solid starter, possibly much more.
6.Israel Mukuamu SCar 6-4 205 80 Mid 4th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! SLEEPER ALERT!!! Excellent size. Another former college CB. Long rangy very physical CB who suffered from what most of them do, struggled with change of direction and short area quickness. Showed excellent closing speed, long-striding glider looks natural patroling the middle of the field. 7 INT's in 2.5 years shows ball skills are at least competent and with the unstable coaching situation a SC he was likely not given the attention needed to excel. Fine athlete who could benefit greatly from year on practice squad and some stable coaching staff.
7.Richard LeCounte Ga 5-11 190 78 Late 4th Undersized, build more like a slot CB than FS. Excellent quickness and speed, High football IQ and effort player. Multi year starter with 8 career INT's. With work with his athletic ability he could develop as a slot CB but that will take time and patience. I see him as he will be relegated to open field duty but could excel due to his speed, near the line he can be negated rather easily. Shows no fear and uses excellent technique in run support but size limits his effectiveness. An interesting player who could develop into a valuable multi DB set player and special teams ace.
8.Robert Rochel CArk 6-2 195 76 Mid 5th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! Yet another college CB this one from FCS level. Temendous quickness and speed, even for CB. Excellent all around athlete, great leaper, 10 INT"s and 28 PBU's in career even while being avoided by opponents . Shows commitment to run game and has finishing ability After watching film I see his best opportunity for success here. His size, closing speed, ball skills and willingness in run game make him a perfect fit. His skills would easily translate to special teams to ease roster pressure while he adjust to anew position and the speed difference in NFL. Wild potential and at this point very little risk.
9.Keith Taylor Wash 6-3 195 72 Mid 6th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!!! College CB who I see best fit here, Ideal size, while quickness and speed numbers are very good for a CB they really pop better here. His change of direction abilities were marginal for CB but the smooth glider with great closing speed has the tools to be a star here. Will still need to improve ball skills even here as he had 0 INT's for career. Showed vast improvement in run game in '19 and only played a few game last season so also shows ability there. Excellent closing speed and success in run game are prime indicators in special teams potential.
10.Tariq Thompson SDSt 6-0 200 70 Mid 7th 4 year contributor and multi year starter, played 47 career games. Average size and strength, very good quickness but limited long speed, he will need to make plays on football IQ, anticipation and effort. Looking at his career production 216 tackles, 12 INT's, 23 PBU's, 6 FF I'd be inclined to give him a look.
11.Benjamin St Juste Minn 6-3 200 69 Mid 7th POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!!! Shocking another college long lanky CB. He really should have gone back to school but here he is. Who advises these kids? But on with it, great size, very good quickness, speed and athletic ability for this position. Was starting to put it together in '19 with 10 PBU's and then the shortened '20 season hit. Lack change of pace for CB but shows long speed to have some success here and on special teams. He will need practice squad spot regardless of which position he is drafted for, question is will he ever play CB in NFL , I say not happening. His only shot is here.
12.Damar Hamlin Pitt 6-1 195 68 Late 7th 5 year player and 3 year starter with solid production. Adequate size, marginal quickness and speed for position, very good strength. Hard nosed effort player with almost 300 career tackles, 6 INT's and 21 PBU's. He uses and combination of high football IQ, antisapation and effort to get job done in spite of his physical limitations. Does not have the athletic ability to start but should be a steady backup and likely a special teams ace.
13.Eric Burrell Wisc 6-0 195 68 Late 7th Solid 4 year contributor and multi year starter. Average size, very good quickness and excellent closing speed. Show solid technique and intints on back end of defense. Rarely out of position, show solid ball tracking and execution in run game. Excellent candidate for backup and special teams.

PUNTERS/CLASS GRADE B
Much like the Kickers the Punter is a highly underappreciated. Only making news when they have a bad day or hell even one bad kick and then they are hung out to dry. I'm not of the Jim Tressell mode but the Punter is vital to the game and a good one can gain a team many yards over a game.

KICK RETURN SPECIALISTS/CLASS GRADE B
With new NFLrules on KO's this position is primarily veiwed as a Punt return position, no longer will teams carry someone to just return KO's. All these players will need to be a position back up and be able to play on all other special teams along with with handling all return needs. I will not include players here highly rated( 3rd round or better) at other positions. These players will likely be reserves at one position as well as a return specialist

2021 DRAFT OVERVIEW:
This years draft overall appears very thin and weak to me. I gave only 22 1st round Draft Values and I stand by that. With last years College season shortened overall and with numerous players opting out evaluations were very complicated to say the least. Many other players played an oft interrupted season and lower levels did not play at all. Combine this with countless players taking advantage of the bonus year added by the NCAA the draft is not just short on top-level talent the depth in pathetic. On the other hand numerous players declared that had no business doing so, this is not new but no less a very disturbing trend, take a look at how awful the NBA is and look at it's ratings and you can see the results of under-qualified and underdeveloped players entering a Professional league. After all even the most brilliant Dr's must finish their training before they practice regardless of the fact that they know enough and could "get payed" sooner! Think about it!!!
MY VIEWS ON DRAFT EVALUATION: I decided to stay with simple letter grades for rating team picks and overall draft. Everybody understands them, they will range from A+ to F. The ratings are round sensitive, I will use a multipliers each round and for number of picks. The Draft is one of my primary reasons for this site, for decades I've watched teams make consistent mistakes and all out failures. Every year I still hear some classic cliches and archaic sayings like "you can't teach speed" the ever popular "best player available" and the more recent additions "He had a great Pro Day" or "He blew up the Combine" Following these thought processes consistently blows up in the face of drafting team. If teams would simply draft the best player to fill needs on their team in the proper round draft failures would be minimized. To me the only things that cannot be taught are Height an Heart!! And if you ignore several years of film and game production for a player who tests well in shorts and a t-shirt you deserve what you get! So yes my innovative views on nfl draft coverage differ wildly but watch, yes I miss one now and then but I'll take the pepsi challenge with anybody out there that mine are more accurate. Starting next year I will be doing my version of a nfl mock draft also. Yes it will be different.
PLAYER GRADING:Factors in grading are the players draft rating, fit for scheme and lastly need. Some players may receive a higher grade than those with higher Draft Rating due to better scheme fit or filling a primary or secondary need. Points will be lost for drafting players with lower draft ratings than position drafted or questions on scheme fit or need. These decisions are based solely my own judgement and evaluations. I often differ significantly from so called "Experts" and Draft rooms around the NFL, I also will point out organizations for their failures and continued failures. I do not care who doesn't like it, unlike others I will call it just as I see it with 0.0 worry who I offend!!
TEAM DRAFT GRADING: My team grading is based on simple math using the initial letter grade and points for a start. I will then add multiplier #1, this is the round sensitive grade, higher rounds receive a higher multiplier and lower receive a lower multiplier, simple enough I believe. Reasoning for this is higher round picks carry more importance due to talent available and of course Salary Cap implications which can cripple a Franchise. Teams that consistently overdraft limit future movements in Free Agency, also this can limit the Franchise when it comes to the all important 2nd contract for core players. This is often overlooked but a vital component in a successful franchise. Overdrafting in my opinion is the single most overlooked and easily dismissed componant in failing franchises. In '21 I will add a multiplier to the number of picks a team makes. this multiplier will work both ways. There are 7 rounds so that is the base number, over 7 picks the team will a positive multiplier and under 7 picks a negative multiplier. This will achieve better accuracy as to which team has the true Best Draft. I've looked at numerous other draft grades from so called "experts" and they are a joke, mostly A's an B's when in reality if you look at history you will find far more average or below average grades after 3 years. My Drafts and grades will be saved in my History section for review after 3 and 5 years, you will not find that information on other sites. So after much thought and experimentation My Draft Grades.

ROUND ONE COMMENT AND REVIEW
As usual numerous QB's rose to the top and were reached for. The top 2 are both very talented players but were drafted into very poor situations. The 3rd played in FCS and only one game last season, wildly talented kid but he WILL need time and patience. They may well fall into the trap that so many others of the past decade and end up be gone before their rookie contract is up. Also as usual this season many teams reached desperately for a major need wildly overdrafting players with more questions than answers.
ROUND ONE
Pk Team Name Pos Sch Grd Comments
1.Jacksonville Trevor Lawrence QB Clem B Great player, one win team, no OL , new coach=trouble It will be interesting to see how he reacts to playing in Meyers offense, consistent losing for the 1st time in his life and 50+ sacks. His talent is ELITE but will the team ever be any good, will Meyer be able to transition to the NFL game and will he survive the weekly beatings both personally and on the scoreboard??
2.NY Jets Zach Wilson QB BYU B Great player, poor franchise, poor coach also = trouble! He needs to be moved along slowly to adjust to game speed and talent. Likely will not be with Jets, they will be right back here in three years. Very sad because this kid has an excellent skill set and potential.
3.SanFrancisco Trey Lance QB NDSt C Great athlete, at least a year away. maybe more. Need? If they take a patient approach this grade could prove inaccurate. DO NOT even think about him starting this season, He should be at school learning but this is what we get today. 50/50 chance of long term success!
4.Atlanta Kyle Pitts TE Fla B Great talent, not complete player, bigger needs, Freakish athlete but not without risks. Had some injuries, no blocking ability. Big WR at this point and may never be more. Must wonder how long the Falcons are going with Ryan. Still a very dangerous and difficult to defend player who will make ESPN regularly. Without quality QB play he will suffer.
5.Cincinati Jamar Chase WR LSU B Better options available, major need on OL. Passing on Sewell will haunt them. Chase is a fine player but #2 WR for me. Burrow needs weapons but needed protection more, typical move for this franchise and why they will continue to fail.
6.Miami Jaylen Waddle WR Ala D Major need, much better options available, Slot WR who they will attempt to play outside, a player who relied on speed for success in college, Sound familiar? Ruggs 2.0 and likely the same disappointing results. Not a bad player at all, just NFL execs trying to stuff a Round peg, square hole again. Add in the draft capital moved to attain this pick and it gets a poor grade.
7.Detroit Penie Sewell OT Ore A+ Not a major need but best player in draft at #7,=A+ Elite player who had he played this season likely would have gone#1. I still see him as the best player
.8.Carolina Jaycee Horn CB SCar B- Great player, major need, better options ,my #4. Not a bad player at all, just were better options available. Will likely have a nice career at least, still overdrafted, they could have traded back ,attained more picks and still got him.
9.Denver Patrick Surtain CB Ala A- Major need, Best CB in draft, team has bigger needs. Great pick and he will start from day one. MONSTER need at QB with excellent options available.
10.Pliladelphia DeVonta Smith WR Ala A+ Major need, best WR in the draft, homerun. Not surprised he was still available , NFL execs were nit picking him from day one. When I watch him I think about a young Jerry Rice only faster, WAY faster!!
11.Chicago Justin Fields QB OSU A+ Primary need, outstanding player, just a bit early. I gave him a slightly higher grade but he would not have been there. Chicago was desperate at QB for a long term fix, he still needs work so hopefully they will not throw him to the wolves to early, not likely!
12.Dallas Micah Parsons LB PennSt A+ Great fit, major need, high charator player, only question is his development after sitting out last season and that may slow his transition. Top MLB in my ratings, excellent pick.
13.LA Chargers Rashawn Slater OT NWest A Teams biggest need, only thing keeping this from being a perfect pick is I see Slater inside and they will be playing him outside. He will still be excellent but not elite. Best player available at a primary need spot. Great Pick!
14.NY Jets Alijah Vera Tucker G USC D Major need but way early for him. He is a solid player but this is just way to high, for sure some like this pick I see many better options available later. Just another in the long line of Jets failures. With the Browns righting the ship I see the Jets/Wash as worst run franchises in the NFL.
15.NEngland Mac Jones QB Ala B Way early. Nice high character skilled player but needs development. Skills a perfect fit for scheme. Would have loved him in round two but not here. Solid and steady across the board, Bill just might make it work.
16.Arizona Zaven Collins LB Tuls B A bit early for me, Major untapped potential, I see him as an inside LB, they will play him outside. Showed little in pass rush ability and will need considerable work. Solid in run game, if given time he could excel.
17.Las Vegas Alex Leatherwood OT Ala C- Mayock at it again with a wild overdraft, no major need at OT so maybe they move him inside and he could be quite good there. Problem is he would have been there in round two for them. Mayock will be gone this year.
18.Miami Jaelan Phillips DE Mia D Serious injury questions, character questions. No questions on raw talent but risk/reward here is not acceptable. He would have continued to fall, better options available.
19.Washington Jamin Davis LB Ky D+ Washinton right there with the Jets as a poorly run franchise. And the strike again. Athletic freak but just a one year wonder, they fell in love with testing numbers. Also LB was 3rd/4th on needs list for a poor team. They are bad for a reason!
20.NY Giants Kadaius Toney WR Fla A+ Primary need and versatile player, I rated him in the slot but he can move outside, premier YAC guy. Strong, fast, tenacious. Great pick.
21.Indianapolis Kwity Paye DE Mich C Too early but I expected this. Also I question scheme fit, doesn't have the athletic ability for outside in 4-3 set. He will provide little in pass rush but will likely become a solid run defender. Liked him in 3rd round.
22.Tennessee Caleb Farley CB VaTc A+ Fills needs, possibly the most underrated player in draft. Yes there are health concerns but he checked out fine. Unlimited upside, only a CB since 2nd year of college. Great natural talent, could develop into a regular visitor to the Pro Bowl.
23.Minnesota Cristian Darrisaw OT VaTc C Maxed out overachiever. He will always give 100% but just an average athlete, will be a classy good solid pro but just never great and that's what you want from 1st round. Would have been available later.
24.Pittsburgh Najee Harris RB Ala A+ Major need, absolutely perfect fit for the scheme, outstanding value, tremendous character and player. One of the top round one picks.
25.Jacksonvile Travis Etienne RB Clem D Head scratcher here, not a major need, OL would have made sense. Etienne can produce but the team has a 1000 yard back already. I've already said Meyer is out of his element, more proof here.
26.Cleveland Greg Newsome CB NWest A+ Primary need, excellent value here, excellent fit for scheme, great production smart high character, high effort player, only concern is there has been some injury issues. He must improve training and workouts for success.
27.Baltimore Rashod Bateman WR Minn C+ Very solid possession type receiverjust way to early here and better options available. He will catch everything near him and has YAC ability due to fine strength
.28.N Orleans Payton Turner DE Hou D- Another head scratcher, he has some intriguing talents but would have been there in 2nd for sure , likely the 3rd, and maybe the 4th so WHY now? Only thing keeping this from a F is he does have some skills
.29.Green Bay Eric Stokes CB Ga C- Following the theme just to early. Arguably the best CB left on the board but value is much lower than this. I see him in 3rd round, classic reach for need and that rarely works, just look at the last few Packer drafts high drafted CB's that did not pan out!
30.Buffalo Gregory Rousseau DE Mia A Another one year guy and that was '19. He could have been a top 10 pick with a repeat performance but chose to opt out. Always a high bust factor on one yar wonders but better here than top 10. Bills a solid team so that will help, must wonder about a Miami guy in Buffalo also. Miami player are OFTEN very cold weather SOFT just review history.
31.Baltimore Jayson Oweh DE PennSt D- Head scratcher #3. Tremendous athlete, tests great, production never has matched up with athletic ability. Very raw, undisciplined player with poor football IQ. If they work hard with him for a couple years possibly they could get something, rarely afforded to 1st round picks but for now they will just get frustration.
32.Tampa Bay Joe Tryon LB Wash D- Another guy that I don't see as an OLB, even in a 3-4. Fine athlete but almost no coverage ability. I see him as a 4-3 DE, that being his best place. Very loaded team so they may have some time, he will not excel at the position the drafted him for.
ROUND TWO
Pk Team Name Pos Sch Grd Comments
33.Jacksonville Tyson Campbell CB Ga C I thought teams would fall in love with his measurables and draft him to high. If they can keep the light on full time he is worth this pick. High risk/reward factor here.
34.NY Jets Elijah Moore WR Miss C Another player drafted to high for me, great upside just very raw. Will do best in the slot where he can use his running ability, if played outside his worth and career will be diminished.
35.Denver Javonte Williams RB NCar B- Several players I like much better, his style is excellent for scheme. Not a primary need but with his skill set he may see the field sooner rather than later. Still a reach and overdraft at this point.
36.Miami Jevon Holland S Ore B+ Solid player, good fit and position in need of upgrade , likely be it packages early and starting soon after.
37.Philadelphia Landon Dickerson C Ala C If he can stay healthy its a great pick, if not its to early and a reach. Best C draft when right but body has high mileage. Other healthier options
38.N England Christian Baremore DE Ala A+ Perfect scheme fit, fills major need. After playing for Saban he can handle Bilichek. Young guy still developing with mad upside.GREAT pick.
39.Chicago Teven Jenkins T OklSt C Good developmental player, to early in 2nd round, I had him late 3rd, still plenty to work with and he could prove a very good pick with dedication.
40.Atlanta Richie Grant S UCF C Kind of a tweener Safety, not sure where he fits , that's why I had him around later. Still a talented player in the right scheme, could end up a solid pick.
41.Detroit Levi Onwuzurkie DT Wash C- Likely a rotational player and the 2nd is to early for that, maxed out size, has a solid skill set, I liked him in the 4th
42.Miami Liam Eichenberg T N D A+ GREAT pick! Fills a spot on that line somewhere, I think he can play LT, they have one, could move to RT and they could kick Hunt inside where he would be better, Makes their line better, deeper more vrsatile.
43.Las Vegas Trevon Moehrig S TCU A+ Well Mayock hit one right, 1st round value here is outstanding! Primary need , great fit, solid well coached player. Best Raider pick in some time.
44.Dallas Kelvin Joseph CB KY D WHY? He would have been there in 4th. Great raw talent that started to live up to it last season. Should have gone back to school. Major reach due to extreme need!
45.Jacksonville Walker Little T Stan B+ About a round early, maybe,Primary need! Little was my top risk/reward player worth taking that risk a termed a SLEEPER, I would have liked this better a round later. Great size, tools and ability, if healthy he will start for a long time.
46.Cinncinati Jackson Carmen T Clem A- As long as they move him to RT or inside the grade stands and they will have a gem here. Huge powerful player but NOT A LT.
47.LA Chargers Asante Samuel CB FlaSt B Talented solid player with a skill set that fits covering slot WR's. Will be very good at CB3/4 just not full time on the outside where I belive his limited size will be a problem that better teams will exploit.
48.SF 49ers Aaron Banks G N D C- VERY early here, solid very strong and well coached developmental prospect, 2nd round not the place for those, try the 4th, he would have been there
.49.Arizona Rondale Moore WR Pur D Way to high to risk for a one year wonder from TWO years ago. Very dangerous pick and risky pick, very small and more quick than fast, Slot potential only.
50.NY Giants Azeez Ojouri DE Ga A Excellent value and scheme fit, lightning-quick player who with NFL coaching could explode, Excellentpick!
51.Washington Sam Cosmi T TX D Very incomplete player, has size and ability but very inconsistent. Typical reach for need, poor evaluation, normal from this franchise
52.Cleveland J Owusu Koramoah LB N D A+ He got a lot of 1st round buzz and I did not like him there. At this point excellent value and fills a major need, great athlete who is very raw and needs work, he will need to be used in packages this season, excellent upside, quality character, solid pick. He could have used another year in college to develop his strength.
53.Tennessee Dillon Radunz T NDSt D I'm not big on small college guys this early with rare exceptions, look at history for my reasoning. That said he has obvious upside but don't expect much till late 2nd year or 3rd. Thats a long wait for a 2nd round pick in a position where need is not extreme.
54.Indianapolis Dayo Odeyingbo DE Vand B+ A round early for me due to questionable availability this season, but they gain points for excellent scheme fit and filling a primary need. Solid pick.
55.Pittsburgh Pat Freiermuth TE PaSt A- The only problem with this pick is primary need for OL was ignored. Love the player at this point, perfect scheme fit.
56.Seattle D'Wayne Eskridge WR WMich D+ Like the player just not this early, I must question primary needs, They already have a version of him in Lockett who caught 100 last season. Multiple smaller WR teams have rarely flourished.
57.LA Rams Tutu Atwell WR Lou F Sorry but one of the most overrated players in the draft. VERY slight, more quick than fast and at roughy 155lbs likely a challenge to keep healthy. KR you say? Well only 4 returns in college career says alot.
58.Kansas City Nick Bolton LB Mo A Great value here, great fit as KC plays a lot of 4-2-5 and fills an need on a team with few of those. Excellent pick.
59.Carolina Terrence Marshall WR LSU B Excellent value, they lose points for fit and need, WR way down the list on needs and they already have some size there. Quality player who will help but now much will he play?
60.New Orleans Pete Werner LB OSU D Another player more of an athlete than complete player. Should provide help in coverage, showed numerous issues in run game and no real blitz ability. Developmental players in the 2nd round get poor grades
.61.Buffalo Carlos Basham DE WFrst A+ LOVE this pick, excellent value, excellent fit, fills one of their limited needs, he is the rare player that will be effective in any defensive set. OUTSTANDING pick.
62.Green Bay Josh Myers C OSU A Excellent value here, excellent fit , fills need, versatile player who could end up better at G. He will start somewhere on that line this season.
63.Kansas City Creed Humphrey C Okl A Excellent value, Top C in the draft, fills need for youth on OL. He to will start this season
.64.Tampa Bay Kyle Trask QB Fla D No Brady will not play forever but to early for this pick when other position needs are greater and many better players still available.
ROUND THREE
Pk Team Name Pos Sch Grd Comments
65.Jacksonville Andre Cisco S Syr A Great value, MUCH higher if not injured in '20, very likely viewed as major steal in a few years
66.Minnesota Kellon Mond QB TxAM F Most overrated QB in draft, maxed out, camp arm, QB3 at best. Should have been FA.
67.Houston David Mills QB Stan D Should be back at school, has some skills, very raw and undeveloped. Likely never more than backup
68.Atlanta Jaylen Mayfield T Mich B Good value, great prospect at RT, very solid player
69.Cincinnati Joseph Ossai DE Tx A Great value, grade stands if he is used proper. Highly athletic best as 3-4/4-2 stand up OLB . If put in 4-3 set he will struggle.
70.Carolina Brady Christensen T BYU B- A round early for me, great developmental player, has a solid set of skills to work with.
71.NY Giants Aaron Robinson CB UCF B- Another one a round early, great athlete but raw, needs to be inside, will struggle outside.
72.Detroit Alim McNeil DT NCSt C+ Too early, I see him best as NT. Limited range, athletic ability, purely a rotational player.
73.Philadelphia Milton Williams DT LaT F WAY to early, NO WAY he should have entered the draft. Not without skills but woefully raw. UDFA practice squad player to me.
74.Washington Benjamin St Juste CB MInn F Another to early, another who should be back at school, watch him struggle at CB then be moved to FS where he has some long term upside.
75.Dallas Osa Odighizuwa DT UCLA C A round early, versatile player for a team starved for defensive help, better options still on board.
76.New Orleans Paulson Adebo CB Stan A+ EXCELLENT value, underrated player and likely an early starter and labeled a steal in the future.
77.LA Chargers Josh Palmer WR Tenn B- LOVE the player just believe they could have got him later and that is reason for the grade, HUGE upside, one of my "SLEEPER" picks.
78.Minnesota Chazz Surratt LB NCar A+ Likely the best pick of the round, HUGE upside player, will become team leader and fan favorite.
79.Las Vegas Malcolm Koonce DE Buff F Mayock at it again, MAJOR reach for a one dimensional player who would have likely been undrafted.
80.Las Vegas Divine Diablo S VaTe B- OK to be fare to Mayock I like this pick although still very early, another of my "SLEEPERES' Tremendous upside for a former WR still learning this position.
81.Miami Hunter Long TE BColl B+ Solid pick, great value, player is solid in all phases, could develop into starter, at worst a solid rotational piece
.82.Washington Dyami Brown WR NCar B- Again early for me an better options available., very good player who can get deep, needs to develop consistency.
83.Carolina Tommy Tremble TE N D F VERY raw and should be back at school. 7th round project to me, they could have got him much later, poor evaluation!
84.Dallas Chauncey Golsten DE Iowa F F- if I could! The Jones' at it again. If you love a n UDFA draft him in the 7th, NOT 3RD!!! Why will the Cowboys will NEVER win consistently!! The Jones family!!
85.Green Bay Amari Rodgers WR Clem A Great value, fills need for more speed, play him inside and he will flourish, do not move him outside.
86.Minnesota Wyatt Davis G OSU A+ Tremendous value, likely a starter by week one, well coached and mature player phycally ready to play.
87.Pittsburgh Kendrick Green G ILL D+ Versatile not very athletic player, can play anywhere inside, Just picked way to early, he is a solid career backup to me, better options available.
88.SF 49ers Trey Sermon RB OSU B+ Just atouch early ,solid versatile player, at the least asolid rotational player, could easily evole to starting role, solid pick
89.Houston Nico Collins WR Mich C+ Very inconsistent player with all the tools, question is can you find the light switch?
90.Minnesota Patrick Jones DE Pitt C+ To early but a very solid player, likely a career rotational piece and a very good one.
91.Cleveland Anthony Swartz WR Aub D- RARE speed. WAY to early, would be an F in not for speed., a raw complete project ,expect nothing 1st year not even KR. I'd look at him also, just in 7th.
92.Tennessee Monty Rice LB Ga F Limited athlete, MAJOR reach at this point, another evaluation I cannot understand.
93.Buffalo Spencer Brown T NIo D+ Monster small college stud, dominant at his level but transition will take time. I liked him much later.
94.Baltimore Ben Cleveland G Ga C- Massive brawler who is an ideal scheme fit, he would have been on the board a round later for sure and possibly later is my only issue.
95.Tampa Bay Robert Hainsey T N D D Late round backup to me, better developmental options available.
96.New England Ronnie Perkins DE Okl B LOVE the player, great value at this point. My only question is scheme fit, can't see him anything more than 3rd down pass rush specialist in this defense.
97.LA Chargers Tre McKitty TE Ga F Head scratcher here. 6th or later ok, here a MONSTER reach. This guy never lived up to his recruiting hype OR raw talent. They could have got him 2 rounds later.
98.Denver Quinn Meinerz C W W B+ Great small college developmental prospect for the inside of the line. A round early for me but I see the potential.
99.Dallas Nashon Wright CB OreSt F RARE size, great athlete who should be back at school. MONSTER reach here, I'd have been shocked if he was drafted, take him in 7th if you love him!!! 100.Tennessee Elijah Molden CB Wash A+ GREAT pick, Tremendous value, while not likely an outside guy he will be a very valuable player in the slot or multi DB sets!!
101.Detroit featu Melifonwu CB Syr C- To early and likely never a CB, I see him best as a SS, watch for that move at some point this season, he will be of value in multi DB sets.
102.SF 49ers Ambry Thomas CB Mich C A round early, very athletic and fast, shows some skills, raw and needs quality coaching to evolve.
103.LA Rams Earnest Jones LB SCar D High motor overachiever, marginal NFL athlete, likely a special teams demon. Nice player, just to early for core special teamer.
104.Baltimore Brandon Stephens CB SMU F They see something I do not, lofty spot for a very raw former RB. Of course I miss one also once in a while, we will see. To me a wasted pick, Likely UDFA
105.Denver Baron Browning LB OSU A Versatile pick, great value here, likely starting at some point this season.
ROUND FOUR
Pk Team Name Pos Sch Grd Comments 106.Jacksonville Jay Tufele DT USC A Great value, at least a solid rotational player, possible future starter.
107.NY Jets Michael Carter RB NCar A Great value, fills needs, versatile player
108.Atlanta Darren Hall CB SDSt B A round early for me,Likely solid rotational player, could develop into more.
109.Tennessee Dez Fitzpatrick WR Lou D To early, developmental player with many holes.
110.Cleveland James Hudson T Cin A My top developmental OT in draft. It will take a couple years but he will start on the line somewhere
111.Cincinnati Cameron Sample DE Tula D Way early, developmental, likely career backup
112.Detroit Amon Ra St Brown WR USC A Great value, likely never a star but has skills for a very long career as WR3/4
113.Detroit Derrick Barnes LB Pur D At least2 rounds early for a 2 down player , questionable evaluation
114.Atlanta Drew Dalman C Stan D Developmental project with some upside, much better in 6th round!
115.Dallas Jabril Cox LB LSU A Great value, very athletic developmental player with high upside. Has all the tools.
116.NY Giants Elerson Smith DE NIowa F Often I am shocked by NFL excecs Likely an UDFA, Of course it is Gettleman.
117.LA Rams Bobby Brown DT TxAM D Lofty recruit, light never stayed on, not sure why so early he was a 7th round talent and likely there.
118.LA Chargers Chris Rumph DE Duke D+ Great developmental prospect, just to early. High IQ ,High character but it will take time.
119.Minnesota Kene Nwangwu RB IoSt F Drafted on "Pro Day" that NEVER works. This pick should be used in the future to explain why teams fail in the draft. FINE if you love him and see something nobody else does but that's what the 7th round is for!!
