CONFERENCE TEAM NOTES;
OHIO ST:
This year Ryan Day shuts up the ignorant tools and the self serving media calling for his job, and good!
Will Howard should flourish with the weapons he has now, the WR room is the best in the country, the run game is loaded, the OL is improved and they have the best defense in the country, led by a lethal DL and a secondary that will all get drafted at some point.
OREGON:
This team is loaded and on any other year they would be the favorite in the conference and likely a Natty. I just don't see them getting past OSU, their offense should roll, the defense has some nice players but also some holes that will be their downfall .
PENN ST:
QB and run game should help them win most games, WR is a real problem, the defense should be strong but a step down from last season.Several future NFL players still roam the field. I truly like and respect HC Franklin but I just don't see him getting this team to the next level, EVER!
IOWA: Their defense will lead them again, the offense should be better and the schedule is a fucking joke so their record is a bit deceiving.
WASHINGTON:The sky will not fall completely out west like most think but it will take a step back from last season. There is still some fire power out there and HC Fisch was a GREAT hire, who once he get's his program in place should have them rolling again.
MICHIGAN:
Back to what has become more their norm for some time now, decent team but Harbaughs poor recruiting the past few seasons, the wheels will be wobling. I see QB as a major concern, I don't see a player who looks complete yet. The running game will take a step back without Corum, the OL should still keep them in games. The defense has suffered to many losses in the past two seasons, they will step back.
USC:
Ther 1st season in this conference will be more of the same. Inconsistency and excuses. If anyone actually cared in LA Riley's butt would be warming quickly but they don't. Watching RB Marks in this offense will be fun though. He will be far bettor known after this season.
NEBRASKA:
I like where this program is going, Nebraska needs to be really good, it's best for CFB. Ruhle has them on the right track and absolutely WILL get them back, he is an OUTSTANDING College coach. A true Fr QB is very tricky to navigate. The defense will be even better this season.
WISCONSIN:
Fickle is a fine coach and will get it right, but he needs a year or two more to get his program in place. If QB Van Dyke finally lives up to not only his hype but his abilities, he can play, they could surprise this season. The running game should roll solid also. The defense will be it's usual rock solid.
MICHIGAN ST:
HC Jonathan Smith was an OUTSTANDING hire and he will get this program back on track quicker than most think. As in this season, he will out perform most predictions and be a competitive team. This guy won at Oregon St!! The offense will score at least 10 points better than last season. The defense has some talent but is very thin.
RUTGERS:
Schiano has them about as good as anybody could get them, they will NEVER compete for titles in this conference. several NFL caliber players on this team. He'll just never get enough recruits.
MARYLAND:
Another team that will never compete for a title. They will never be able to recruit enough to be more than a middle of the pack team. This team needs to figure out how to run the ball 1st. Then maybe they can at least compete.
NORTHWESTERN:
They should move to a smaller conference, but that won't happen. They will NEVER be even close to competing regularly for the title again with the portal and NIL. They should just move to the MAC and be who they are.
UCLA:
A tough 1st year in the midwest for this LA team, likely more than one. It feels to me the settled on HC Foster due to limited interest in this job. This team is solid at most position but spectacular at NONE! Now they have to fly father to get beat.
INDIANA:
Cignetti the latest to try and beat the overwhelming odds. I'm sure the offense will get rolling quickly, the pass game will make or break them. The defense will need more than a year to be competitive. Recruiting again is the problem.
ILLINOIS:
I really thought Bielema would get them better, hasn't happened, won't this year either. His seat will heat up very fast if this season plays out the way I think. The schedule maker did them no favors either
MINNESOTA:
I like Fleck but the boat is taking on more water than it can handle. Hopefully for Gopher fans is that the several transfers will pick up the offense. The defense will be well coached and consistent but lack the overall talent to compete.
PURDUE:
Walters seat will heat up fast as this season progresses, they are going nowhere. The offense lacks any explosive players. The defense lacks speed on the edge along with depth on the DL. This program is in as bad a place as I've ever seen it.
