2025 DRAFT REVIEW:
MY VIEWS ON DRAFT EVALUATION:
I decided to stay with simple letter grades for rating team picks and overall draft. Everybody understands them, they will range from A+ to F. The ratings are round sensitive, I will use a multiplier each round and for number of picks. The Draft is one of my primary reasons for this site, for decades I've watched teams make consistent mistakes and all out failures. Every year I still hear some classic cliches and archaic sayings like "you can't teach speed" the ever popular "best player available" and the more recent additions "He had a great Pro Day" or "He blew up the Combine" Following these thought processes consistently blows up in the face of drafting team. If teams would simply draft the best player to fill needs on their team in the proper round draft failures would be minimized. To me the only things that cannot be taught are Height and Heart!! And if you ignore several years of film and game production for a player who tests well in shorts and a t-shirt you deserve what you get! So yes my innovative views on NFL draft coverage differ wildly but watch, yes I miss one now and then but I'll take the pepsi challenge with anybody out there that mine are more accurate. Starting next year I will be doing my version of a nfl mock draft also. Yes it will be different.
PLAYER GRADING:
Factors in grading are. the players draft rating, fit for scheme and lastly need. Some players may receive a higher grade than those with higher Draft Rating due to better scheme fit or filling a primary or secondary need. Points will be lost for drafting players with lower draft ratings than position drafted or questions on scheme fit or need. These decisions are based solely my own judgement and evaluations. I often differ significantly from so called "Experts" and Draft rooms around the NFL; I also will point out organizations for their failures and continued failures. I do not care who doesn't like it, unlike others I will call it just as I see it with 0.0 worry who I offend!!
TEAM DRAFT GRADING:
My team grading is based on simple math using the initial letter grade and points for a start. I will then add multiplier #1, this is the round sensitive grade, higher rounds receive a higher multiplier and lower receive a lower multiplier, simple enough I believe. The reasoning for this is higher round picks carry more importance due to talent available and of course Salary Cap implications which can cripple a Franchise. Teams that consistently overdraft limit future movements in Free Agency, also this can limit the Franchise when it comes to the all important 2nd contract for core players. This is often overlooked but a vital component in a successful franchise. Overdrafting in my opinion is the single most overlooked and easily dismissed componant in failing franchises. In '21 I added multiplier#2 this comes from the number of picks a team makes. this multiplier will work both ways. There are 7 rounds so that is the base number, over 7 picks the team will a positive multiplier and under 7 picks a negative multiplier. This will achieve better accuracy as to which team has the true Best Draft. I've looked at numerous other draft grades from so called "experts" and they are a joke, mostly A's an B's when in reality if you look at history you will find far more average or below average grades after 3 years. My Drafts and grades will be saved in my History section for review after 3 and 5 years, you will not find that information on other sites. NEW IMPROVED GRADING FOR '22. New for this season, I felt I was in need of some adjustments so I tightened things up just a touch from last season. So after much thought and experimentation. NEW FOR "23. A small change as I went to 3 digits past the decimal for all scores, just more accurate.

Base- Is the average of Player grades. Grades are set by using the following criteria. My rating of the player. How soon the player will be able to contribute. Team need at the position. Fit with the teams coaching and scheme. Players on the board when the pick was made.
Mutiplier #1-Take the picks and add in Multiplier for the round, 1st round highest and so on. The top 3 rounds are by far the most important so they carry the most weight and impact the final score the most. My ratings also reward teams for quality picks in the later rounds but at a much lower rate.
Multiplier #2 This multiplier is much smaller but still very important in determining the top drafts.Take the number of picks overall and add Multiplier #2. 7 round draft so 7 is nuetral, over 7 adds to score under 7 lowers score each pick over or under changes the multiplier. Of course a draft can be made by one pick but teams that year in and year out compete for the title need multiple players from each draft to become starters.

TEAM RANKING THOUGHTS:
Well, again this year I'm feeling an adjustment to my grading is in order, NO WAY over half the teams drafted to a B- or better. Look for changes nest season! I have said before, none of the "draft experts" give any team below a C- I only had four this year, NOT ENOUGH! Well at least I didn't have ALL A's and B's as to not offend anyone. If you go back and look at the majority of the drafts, you will find numerous failures, to be kind! Honestly, close to half the teams FAIL in the draft in most seasons. Well, I don't care about that, I'm about being honest and RIGHT!! But for this season I'll stay with what I have and OWN IT unlike any others!
DRAFT GRADING COMPARISONS
This season I'll begin to compare my grades directly with others in the business so you can all see who is more accurate. I'M CONFIDENT that I will be at the top, most seasons. Unfortunately, I cannot put Kiper's most recent FAILURE up due to ESPN hiding it on their pay to see list. I will list by my Rankings 1-32 for easy reference. I will compare grades with these sites

EXPLANATION OF OTHER TERMS
BUST ALERT!!! A player highly ranked by many others but one I do hold in the same regard. Also, this term will be used for players who I call "ONE YEAR WONDERS" these players are either freakish athletes or players who had one season that FAR exceeded their previous production creating serious risk. This term will be reserved for 1st round projections where mistakes can cripple a franchise.
OVERRATED ALERT!!! Similar to the above but not as extreme, for after 1st/2nd rounds. Players are not as highly rated so mistakes while still important do not carry the same weight. There are multiple reasons for this designation some but not limited to character, talent, injuries, college scheme or system.
UNDERRATED ALERT!!! Players I feel deserve a higher ranking than many/most other so called experts. These players in the future will be referred to as "STEALS" but I want it known my evaluation were on point when they were drafted.
SLEEPER ALERT!!!! A player that perhaps played in a poor scheme for his talents, suffered from poor coaching, revolving door coaching, poor supporting cast but has shown flashes that can lead him to success in the proper environment.
POSITION CHANGE ALERT!!! These are players who I feel due primarily to their skill set or more rarely at times measurables will reach their maximum level of NFL success by changing from their primary College position.
CHARACTER ALERT!!! This designation is reserved for players who have had multiple issues concerning there character. This can be legal issues, multiple transfers, poor practice habits, friction with teammates and/or Coaches, Academic issues and or any other infraction that brings into question the players decision making. Teams must weigh the risk/reward related to these players VERY CAREFULLY!!
INJURY ALERT!!!! A player with serious injury concerns, medicals vital. Possibly multiple injuries while in college or one severe injury. Also, could have a long history in college and even perhaps High School "Injury Prone" is the common term. If you are missing time on the field, you are costing your team $$$$
ROUND ONE
In round one teams need to draft STARS, long-time starters, plug and play for multiple years. Steer clear of red flags, over drafting, drafting on Combine or ridiculous Pro Day performances and developmental players, DO NOT BELONG IN THIS ROUND!!! If your 1st round pick does not start or play significant minutes YOU FAILED on numerous levels!! Not only did you waste a pick that needed to be correct, but you also caused salary Cap implications that can cause long-term and cripple a Franchise for years to come.

Pk Team Name Pos Sch Grade
1.Tennessee Cam Ward QB Mia(F) C
OVERRATED ALERT: Classic reach for need. Poor organizations stay bad with decisions like this, the spiral will continue! Not a bad player, but a middle of the pack QB long term in my eyes, not worthy of the #1 overall pick.
2.Jacksonville Travis Hunter Ath Colo C
OVERRATED ALERT: Not my #1 CB, and had I ranked him at WR he would have been a slot receiver and still not #1. Product of a system more concerned with QB stats and Heisman promotion than wins and losses. Also, HIGH MILES, around 3500 plays in the past 3 seasons, that's FIVE FULL YEARS for most players!! Meion did him no favors! Also, they gave up A LOT to move 3 spots.
3.NY Giants Abdul Carter DE Penn St A+
My #1 overall player, great pick, plug and play for years
4.New England Will Campbell OT LSU A
Is he a LT or RT will be the only question; he should start at LT Day one and likely not move in my opinion. Fills major need, solid value though a touch high, nice pick.
5.Cleveland Mason Graham DT Mich C
OVERRATED ALERT: Nice player, my #1 DT, that said, 1st round DT's, DO NOT have a good track record over history! Top 10 DT picks RARELY work out well 2nd round, fine! Plus, an incredibly offensively challenged team like the Browns had FAR BETTER options on the board here! Props for trade down though!
6.Las Vegas Ashton Jeanty RB Boise St C
OVERRRATED ALERT! The Mountain West in NOT the NFL!! He won't run past or over near as many players at this level. Remember that, and the Raiders will learn it, nice, explosive player who WILL help and have flashes, but undersized and not a complete player. Poor value this high.
7.NY Jets Armond Membou OL Mo A
This grade is based on him playing Guard or possibly RT! If they insist on playing him at LT, well, it drops to a C, at best with a BUST ALERT attached. remember how Becton worked out?
8.Carolina Tetairoa McMillian WR Az C
BUST ALERT!! NOT a #1 WR! Top end for him is WR2 on a team weak at WR, like Carolina. Struggled often to separate in CFB and it's MUCH harder at this level.
9.New Orleans Kelvin Banks OL Texas A
Another player who must move inside to maximize his ability, and he can be an ALL PRO. If they insist on playing him at LT , HE WILL FAIL! Jedrick Wills kept coming to mind as I watched him play!
10.Chicago Colson Loveland TE Mich B
Fills major need, just the wrong player, and I really like Lovelands game, athletic, great hands, nice routes, well-coached. Warren is just FAR BETTER
11.San Francisco Mykel Williams DE Geo A+
Best pick in the draft at this point, TOP 5 talent!!
12.Dallas Tyler Booker G Ala C
Yet again, Jerry proves he IS NOT the smartest guy in the room. Yes, fills need, and not as bad of a reach as last draft, but WILDY better options on the board. As long as Jerry is there, this franchise will win NOTHING!!!
13.Miami Kenneth Grant DT Mich F
BUST ALERT!!! This guy is a NT! And not the best one available. Sure, you can put him at DT, but don't expect much production. I have no idea WTF they are thinking but it's wrong, VERY WRONG!! Someone should be fired over this!!
14.Indianapolis Tyler Warren TE Penn St A+
The best pick of the 1st round!! If they can find someone to throw him the ball, ALL PRO seasons will follow. No weakness, think Brock Bowers who can block and is a better athlete!!
15.Atlanta Jaylon Walker OLB Georgia A+
Fills need, great scheme fit, excellent player, outstanding pick
16.Arizona Walter Nolen DT Miss F
BUST ALERT: Hard to understand reach here, far better options available than this late 3rd round graded underachiever, his best season was last year so they saw something I didn't. Yes, there is upside, but this was an unnecessary gamble.
17.Cincinnati Shemar Stewart DE Tx A&M F
BUST ALERT!! 1.5 sacks in each of his 3 seasons. WTF about that makes any GM think this was a good idea!! He a combine star, workout warrior who doesn't know how to play the game and shows no interest in learning. Just an idiotic WASTED PICK!!! Another pick someone should be fired over.
18.Seattle Grey Zabel G N Dak St F
I'm not big on several things, one is small school guys who could move up but don't and dominate at lower levels, another is players who rise dramatically after the season, HE IS BOTH! YES, there is some interesting upside and versatility, but those players should be drafted later, when it takes 3 years for them to develop it;s not as painful. One nice week at the SR Bowl should not get you drafted in the 1st round.
19.Tampa Bay Emeka Egbuka WR Ohio St A
Consistent, well-coached, runs precise routes, nice size speed combo, can play inside or outside, unselfish almost to a fault, consummate teammate, he will be a Captain on this team sooner rather than later.
20.Denver Jahdae Barron CB Texas A+
My #2 CB! Tough, smart, strong excellent character can play inside, outside or even fill in at Safety if needed. Not afraid of contact, no back down in his make-up. Plug and play on day one, outstanding pick.
21.Pittsburgh Derrick Harmon DE Oregon B+
Perfect scheme fit, solid player in all facets, size, strength, quickness, execution, just not spectacular in any. Just a little early for me
22.LA Chargers Omarion Hampton RB NCar A+
Perfect scheme fit, tough, strong faster than you think, most of you never watched him play, I see Nick Chubb without the injury woes. Look for him in the Pro Bowl soon.
23.Green Bay Matthew Golden WR Texas F
Some others love him, I see another Corey Coleman! Undersized for the outside, he is more quick than fast, route running is inconsistent especially on longer routes, lacks strength to win one on ones with bigger CB's. I saw him several rounds later. THeyb wait 20 years to draft a WR, and this is it!
24.Minnesota Donavan Jackson G Ohio St A
Day one starter! Athletic, versatile, experienced in big games, unselfish, can and has played LT and was quite good. Equal in both run and pass game, 10 years plus starter.
25.NY Giants Jaxson Dart QB Miss F
Lane Kiffin's QB's do not translate to the NFL. I was fooled before and have not forgot, like some do. Decent but not great arm, limited downfield, threw to limited route tree, he will struggle with the more complex reads needed to defeat NFL defenses. Developmental QB who's top end in middle of the pack. Not 1st round material.
26.Atlanta James Pierce DE Tenn A
Pure pass rusher at this point but very good at it and an athletic freak! He will need to step up major in run defense and with his consistency to become a 3-down player, but ALL the tools are there. I thought he could be a Top 10 pick at one time but upside is more than worth the gamble here.
27.Baltimore Malachi Starks FS Georgia A
Nice scheme fit, solid in all aspects and show excellent cover skills, I just liked Emmanwori better and feel he was a better fit. Still an excellent pick, he will be a Pro bowl player at some point soon.
28.Detroit Tyliek Williams DT Ohio St B
Another player I like but just to early. DT's rarely have 1st round grades in my world. Williams is massive, quicker than you think and knows how to finish! Can play 1 and 3 techniques, quick enough to even fill in at 5 technique if needed for short bursts. Great scheme fit and fill need.
29.Washington Josh Conerly OT Oregon C+
Solid all-around OT who fills a major need, fits scheme well, solid in run game and very good in protection, very nice player who will start and help day one, just a round early for me and better options on the board.
30.Buffalo Maxwell Hairston CB Ky C+
Fills need, nice fit, a little undersized but tough, quick, fast. Missed time due to injury last season. Solid in run support, can play inside or outside, he will contributor day one and be a very good player, just a round too early for me and better options available.
31.Philadelphia Jihaad Campbell OLB Ala A+
They had to be amazed he fell to them, the ricj get richer, tremendous value here, perfect scheme fit, great size, speed, quickness profile. He's only starting to realize how good he can be. One of the best picks in the round!
32.Kansas City Josh Simmons LT Ohio St A+
Perfect landing spot. He likely will not contributor much early this season and maybe not at all due to injury last season but look for him to rapidly become a long-term mainstay in the starting lineup by year two. He has improved in all facets every season and was heading to an All-American season before injury. THIS IS HOW YOU BUILD A TEAM!!

ROUND TWO
Very close to round one but not as vital, still looking for STARS and STARTERS but players with limited developmental needs can be of value here. Again, watch for over drafting and idiot GM's drafting on measurables and testing performances, these players while perhaps somewhat useful cause a ripple effect within the salary structure that can destroy a team. Still if players in this round do not contribute in some manner in year one, starter, regular contributing reserve, core Special Teams, YOU FAILED!!

Great pick, solid weapon! Excellent fit, he will start this season.
35.Seattle Nick Emmanwori FS S Car A+
How he got this far with befuddle many. should have been a Top 10 pick
36.Cleveland Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio St A-
Not the OSU back I would have taken, but still a very nice slasher type, quicker than fast, improved in pass game last season.
37.Miami Jonah Savaiinaea G Az A-
Starter day one, MUST be a guard, has played tackle but inside he will start 10 seasons.
38.N England TreVeyon Henderson RB Ohio St A+
Best blocking back in draft, best receiving back in draft, as explosive as Jeanty, WILDLY better competition!! On the slight side, will need to split carries.
39.Chicago Luther Burden WR Mo A
1st round talent, best in slot but can produce outside, quicker than fast, solid route runner.
40.New Orleans Tyler Shough QB Louis F
I could have to eat this one, health will be key, older players like him rarely pan out. Solid arm limited consistent production, nice intangibles.
41.Buffalo TJ Sanders DT SCar D
Reaching early for a guy who would have been on board in round 4, solid rotational prospect, you want starters here!
42.NY Jets Mason Taylor TE LSU D+
Good, not great at everything, average athlete, better options on board.
43.SF 49ers Alfred Collins DT Texas D+
I see him at NT, a career full of teasing flashes, doubtful he will be anything more.
44.Dallas Donovan Ezeiruaku DE Bost C F
VERY one dimensional, pass rush specialist with moves limited to excellent athleticism, he will struggle to duplicate that same production at NFL level. Gets worked in run game. Likely could develop into a functional pass rush specialist, but round two is not where you draft that player.
45.Indianapolis JT Tuimoloau DE Ohio St A
Excels in run game, has shown pass rush inconsistently but has excellent potential.
46.LA Rams Terrence Ferguson TE Ore B
Excellent athlete, hasn't always lived up to it, disappears at times, consistency an issue but wild ass raw talent who could explode.
47.Arizona Will Johnson CB Mich B+
If he can get right physically, this will be a major STEAL, problem is that's not a given, has it all when right.
48.Houston Aireontae Ersery OT Minn A+
Should move tp RT ant start there for 10+ years and see some Pro Bowls.
49.Cincinnati Demetrius Knight LB SCar B+
Rock solid in run game, little rush ability, has the tools, shows potential in coverage.
50.Seattle Elijah Arroyo TE Mia(F) D
One big season after 3 of looking like a D2 player, big gamble here. very limited blocker, as in non-existent!
51.Carolina Nic Scourton DE TxA&M A+
He will start day one, look for an ALL-rookie season, Excellent all-around player
52.Tennessee Oluwafemi Oladejo LB UCLA F
Is he a LB? Is he a DE? Does he know? Apparently, Titans brass thinks they know! Too many question for this high in draft. I see the upside but how long or will it ever show?
53.Tampa Bay Benjamin Morrison CB NDame B
If he can stay healthy this will be an A, has all the tools.
54.Green Bay Anthony Belton OL NCSt A
Likely 1st year starter, RT is his best spot, he could move inside but he will find a place to start.
55.LA Chargers Tre Harris WR Miss A
He will force his way into this offense, over 200 catches, 3500 yards and 29 TD's in SEC !!
56.Chicago Ozzy Trapilo OT Bost C D
Built like an OT but moves like a guard. I'm not sold he can find a spot where he fits as a starter.
57.Detroit Tate Ratledge G Geo C-
Limited athlete, very strong, guard only!
58.Las Vagas Jack Bech WR TCU B
SLEEPER ALERT: This guy might be the hardest worker in the WR clas so don't be surprised if he outplays this spot.
59.Baltimore Mike Green DE Marsh D+
Exploded this season against poor competition, nice athlete but limited moves and run game ability, he is an interesting developmental project, not what you want in 2nd round.
60.Denver RJ Harvey RB UCF B
Excels in run game, has surprising power, quick AND fast, downside is he is very limited in all aspects of passing game and will need much work to stay on the field.
61.Washington Trey Amos CB Miss B
Should be able to work into line up as a nickle back at the least this season.
62.Chicago Shemar Turner DT TxA&M F
Never lived up to hype, looks the part just doesn't produce. Typical Texas A&M player.
63.Kansas City Omar Norman-Lott DT Tenn D+
Has some upside for sure, compact and explosive but limited moves, would have been on board a round later, better there.
64.Philadelphia Andrew Mukuba FS Texas A
Undersized safety will force his way onto the field. great pick.

Rock solid in all aspects, he will be on the fields early.
94.Cleveland Dillion Gabriel QB Ore F
Little guy with big arm, tough and gritty but limited athletically, apparently the Browns missed his weather comments. Reality is, #1 SIZE does matter, #2 it gets cold in the north and they play in it, and this was a rather confusing pick with the team need for OL/WR! Far better fits on board.
95.New England Jared Wilson C Geo B
He should find his way onto the firld somewhere inside this season, best at Center.
96.Atlanta Xavier Watts FS NDame A
SLEEPER ALERT: Don't be surprised if he's starting by mid-season, rock solid all-around game, nice athlete.
