2024 DRAFT REVIEW:
MY VIEWS ON DRAFT EVALUATION:
I decided to stay with simple letter grades for rating team picks and overall draft. Everybody understands them, they will range from A+ to F. The ratings are round sensitive, I will use a multipliers each round and for number of picks. The Draft is one of my primary reasons for this site, for decades I've watched teams make consistent mistakes and all out failures. Every year I still hear some classic cliches and archaic sayings like "you can't teach speed" the ever popular "best player available" and the more recent additions "He had a great Pro Day" or "He blew up the Combine" Following these thought processes consistently blows up in the face of drafting team. If teams would simply draft the best player to fill needs on their team in the proper round draft failures would be minimized. To me the only things that cannot be taught are Height and Heart!! And if you ignore several years of film and game production for a player who tests well in shorts and a t-shirt you deserve what you get! So yes my innovative views on NFL draft coverage differ wildly but watch, yes I miss one now and then but I'll take the pepsi challenge with anybody out there that mine are more accurate. Starting next year I will be doing my version of a nfl mock draft also. Yes it will be different.
PLAYER GRADING:
Factors in grading are the players draft rating, fit for scheme and lastly need. Some players may receive a higher grade than those with higher Draft Rating due to better scheme fit or filling a primary or secondary need. Points will be lost for drafting players with lower draft ratings than position drafted or questions on scheme fit or need. These decisions are based solely my own judgement and evaluations. I often differ significantly from so called "Experts" and Draft rooms around the NFL, I also will point out organizations for their failures and continued failures. I do not care who doesn't like it, unlike others I will call it just as I see it with 0.0 worry who I offend!!
TEAM DRAFT GRADING:
My team grading is based on simple math using the initial letter grade and points for a start. I will then add multiplier #1, this is the round sensitive grade, higher rounds receive a higher multiplier and lower receive a lower multiplier, simple enough I believe. The reasoning for this is higher round picks carry more importance due to talent available and of course Salary Cap implications which can cripple a Franchise. Teams that consistently overdraft limit future movements in Free Agency, also this can limit the Franchise when it comes to the all important 2nd contract for core players. This is often overlooked but a vital component in a successful franchise. Overdrafting in my opinion is the single most overlooked and easily dismissed componant in failing franchises. In '21 I added multiplier#2 this comes from the number of picks a team makes. this multiplier will work both ways. There are 7 rounds so that is the base number, over 7 picks the team will a positive multiplier and under 7 picks a negative multiplier. This will achieve better accuracy as to which team has the true Best Draft. I've looked at numerous other draft grades from so called "experts" and they are a joke, mostly A's an B's when in reality if you look at history you will find far more average or below average grades after 3 years. My Drafts and grades will be saved in my History section for review after 3 and 5 years, you will not find that information on other sites. NEW IMPROVED GRADING FOR '22. New for this season, I felt I was in need of some adjustments so I tightened things up just a touch from last season. So after much thought and experimentation. NEW FOR "23. A small change as I went to 3 digits past the decimal for all scores, just more accurate.

Base- Is the average of Player grades. Grades are set by using the following criteria. My rating of the player. How soon the player will be able to contribute. Team need at the position. Fit with the teams coaching and scheme. Players on the board when the pick was made.
Mutiplier #1-Take the picks and add in Multiplier for the round, 1st round highest and so on. The top 3 rounds are by far the most important so they carry the most weight and impact the final score the most. My ratings also reward teams for quality picks in the later rounds but at a much lower rate.
Multiplier #2 This multiplier is much smaller but still very important in determining the top drafts.Take the number of picks overall and add Multiplier #2. 7 round draft so 7 is nuetral, over 7 adds to score under 7 lowers score each pick over or under changes the multiplier. Of course a draft can be made by one pick but teams that year in and year out compete for the title need multiple players from each draft to become starters.

TEAM RANKING THOUGHTS:
WHAT NO F's!! 25 teams at B- or better? WTF!!! Yes while grading this draft and seeing the high scores coming together I started questioning myself. It's a RARE year when this many teams draft so well, that's just reality. I have said before none of the draft"experts" give any team below a C- and mostly A's and B's as to not offend anyone. Well I don't care about that, I'm about being honest and RIGHT!! So I'll call them as I seeing em,learn from my mistakes and trust my process on this draft and own my success or failure.
NEW THIS SEASON
DRAFT GRADING COMPARISONS
This season I'll begin to compare my grades directly with others in the business so you can all see who is more accurate. I'M CONFIDENT that i will be on top most seasons. Unfortunatly I cannot put Kiper's most recent failure up due to ESPN hiding it on their pay to see list. I will list by my Rankings 1-32 for easy reference. I will compare grades with these sites

ROUND ONE
In round one teams need to draft STARS, long-time starters, plug and play for multiple years. Steer clear of red flags, overdrafting, drafting on Combine or ridiclous Pro Day performances and developmental players, DO NOT BELONG IN THIS ROUND!!! If your 1st round pick does not start or play significant minutes YOU FAILED on numerous levels!! Not only did you waste a pick that needed to be correct you caused salary Cap implications that can cause long-term and cripple a Franchise for years to come.

1.Chicago Caleb Williams QB USC B
CHARACTER ALERT!! Will he be another Mahomes or another Jeff George? Likely he will be some of both. His character is questionable for a good reason, talent is not the question.
2.Washington Jayden Daniels QB LSU D
BUST ALERT!!! I'm just not seeing the reasons for him going this high, slight frame, average arm strength at best, sure he's athletic but look at the receivers he had!
3.New England Drake Maye QB N Carloina D-
BUST ALERT!!! Bill is gone and they still can't draft, good kid, but average athlete, below average arm and from an offense that does not translate well to NFL. He will never be more than middle of the pack guy, NOT what you want at #3
4.Arizona Marvin Harrison Jr WR Ohio St A+
My top overall player, plug and play for 10 years plus, fills a major need he will be a n All Pro within 3 years if Murray can get his head out of his ass and realize how good he can be with some work.
5.LA Chargers Joe Alt LT Notre Dame A-
Great player, great value. They only lose points because they had bigger needs. That said I see the reasoning for the pick. Plug and play for 10+ years with ALL PRO potential. Harbaugh better hope he lives up to it.
6.NY Giants Malik Nabers WR LSU A
My "Most likely to become a WR DIVA" If he can keep his head on straight he can be a perennial ALL PRO. Or he may end up another Beckham, flash all the talent but toss it away with a poor attitude.
7.Tennessee J C Latham RT Alabama D
Rock solid player who will likely start year one and for a decade more. The problems are, WAY to early, better options on the board. I had a Mid 2nd grade on him. If they try him at LT he will fail, pure RT and nothing else.
8.Atlanta Micheal Pennix QB Washington B-
You pay a guy 100 Million to play QB then draft one, AT #8? With the offensive weapons on the board this pick makes little sense The raw talent is obvious but with his injury history and inconsistencies this pick is a head scratcher.
9.Chicago Rome Odunzie WR Chicago A
Great player, fills a major need, he should be able to handle the weather, rock solid pick.Thomas still has more upside in my opinion but I can for sure understand their thinking.
10.Minnesota J J McCarthy QB Michigan D
Think about all the players who rise meteorically after the season and tell me the pass/fail rate. IT'S NOT GOOD!! He can be a starter/quality QB2 in the league as he reminds me of a slightly more athletic Colt McCoy, so they avoid total; failure for the pick.,but you trade up for him? Someone will get fired for this pick.
11.NY Jets Olu Fashanu LT PennSt B
Solid in pass protection but inconsistent in run blocking, has the tools to make this pick work. That said, maulti year starter didn't do it at PSU.My ratings have better players on the board.
12.Denver Bo Nix QB Aub A+
UNDERRATED ALERT!! My #1 QB 6th QB taken, numerous teams will regret passing on him! He will be starting by mid season the latest.
13.Las Vegas Brock Bowers TE Ga A
Really more of a big WR if he is played that way he will be abeast, pure playmaker.
14.New Orleans Taliese Fuaga RT OreSt A
My #1 RT. As long as they don't try to move him to LT he will be a plug and play multi-year starter and Pro Bowler
15.Indianapolis Laiatu Latu DE UCLA A-
If he stays healthy this will be a great pick, worth the gamble. They lose a little due to better players on board.
16.Seattle Byron Murphy DT Tx F
BUST ALERT!!! WTF?? Major reach here. He;s not ready and should have gone back to school. He may produce in a couple years but not what you want here.
17.Minnesota Dallas Turner DE Ala A+
Top 10 talent at #17!! Nothing more to say!
18.Cincinnati Amarius Mims RT Ga A
Another player who must play the RT spot to reach his full potential, he should slide right into the line-up quickly.
19.LA Rams Jared Verse DE FlaSt A+
My #1 DE! They get him at #19, GREAT PICK
20.Pittsburgh Troy Fautanu G Wash A
Great scheme fit and fills a need, I had him as my #2 G but rated here for value, he will start sooner rather than later.
21.Miami Chop Robinson DE PennSt A-
They only lose a few points for a bit early and possibly better fits on the board.
22.Philadelphia Quinyon Mitchell CB Tol A
He has all the tools, he will need some work to get used to the speed difference from the MAC but that will happen, Solid pick
23.Jacksonville Brian Thomas WR LSU A+
He has more upside than any WR in the draft. Hopefully they won't waste it.
24.Detroit Terrion Arnold CB Ala A+
One of the top VALUE picks in the 1st round, teams that passed on him will regret it.
25.Green Bay Jordan Morgan LT Az D
Is he a RT or LT? My bet is he ends up at RT. Once you decide that, he's not a bad player but this is far to early to pick him and much better options on board.
26.Tampa Bay Graham Barton C/G Duke B\
Another who can play multiple spots, which one is best? A round to early and better options on board.
27.Arizona Darius Robinson DE Mo A
Very powerful and My #! 34 DE. He can excel if used correctly, he will start day one!
28.Kansas City Xavier Worthy SWR Tx A+
My Top SWR!! He can play outside but his slight build will be a problem. This staff is smart enough to know what. He will be a great fit.
29.Dallas Tyler Guyton RT Okl F
BUST ALERT!!! Another classic Jones pick!! Effin stupid reach. Not a bad player just three rounds early. This is why Dallas will NEVER win another Super Bowl as long as a Jones is in the building.
30.Baltimore Nate Wiggins CB Clem B
Has all the tools but typical of recent Clemson DB's, soft as hell in run game. Surprised to see the Ravens make this mistake with better fits on board.
31.SanFrancisco Ricky Pearsal SWR Fla D-
This would be the worst pick of the round if not for Dallas. This pick makes no sense, he would have been there two rounds later, at least!!
32.Carolina Xavier Legette WR SCar B
Nice player, perhaps they like his fit better than several others I have rated much higher, just a bit early for him here as well, this may work out fine for them.
ROUND TWO
Very close to round one but not as vital, still looking for STARS and STARTERS but players with limited developmental needs can be of value here. Again, watch for overdrafting and idiot GM's drafting on measurables and testing performances, these players while perhaps somewhat useful cause a ripple effect within the salary structure that can detroy a team.Still if players in this round do not contribute in some manner in year one, YOU FAILED!!

Great kid but far too early here and better options on board. He has some possession receiver ability but speed/quickness is going to be a problem. Still, he should have a nice niche career..
34.LA Chargers Ladd McKonkey SWR Ga A+
Love this guy, he'll be driving DC's crazy for years. He should operate from the Slot for best results, outside he will struggle with bigger CB's.
35.Atlanta Ruke Orhorhoro DE Clem A
Rock solid pick, scheme fit, he'll be in the rotation and a force this season.
36.Washington Jerzhan Newton DT Ill A
Another solid DL pick. Look for him to start week 1
37.New England Jaylin Polk WR Wash A-
Finally the patriots make a good pick. Bill was past him time to go.
38.Tennessee Tvondre Sweat NT Tx F
BUST ALERT!!! Why?? Far to early, far to much baggage, far too much weight. Pure NT, plug up middle guy with no real upside and numerous red flags.
39.Carolina Braden Fiske DE FlaSt C
Decent rotational piece but little more. Guys who blow up the combine RARELY live up to that hype. He won't change that.
40.Philadelphia Cooper DeJean CB Iowa A+
THE TOP PICK IN THE DRAFT!! Many teams will regret passing on this kid, I see him at CB, but even at Safety he will dominate. plus great punt return skils.
41.New Orleans Kool A McKinstry CB Ala A+
Another 2nd round steal. !st round talent and a starter on day one and for the next decade. Look for several Pro Bowls.
42.Houston Kamari Lassiter CB Ga A-
Solid all around corner with nice upside, just a bit early
43.Arizona Max Melton SCB Rut D
WILDLY to early, major reach for a guy who will only start out of necessity if ever, CB4 at best. Not what you want in Round 2.
44.Las Vegas J Powers Johnson C Ore A
He will be starting sooner rather than later. Excellent pick here
45.Green Bay Edgerin Cooper LB TxAM A
He will be in rotation day one and likely starting this season.
46.Carolina Jonathan Brooks RB Tx B
I must question the pick, serious injury late last season. This guy should have gone back to school.
47. Minnesota Tyler Nubin SS Minn A+
My top Safety, look for him to start for many seasons to come.
48.Jacksonville Maason Smith DE LSU B-
WILD upside and nice fit, he's just not ready yet, should have returned to school, I'm truly surprised he went this early.shocked
49.Cincinnati Kris Jenkins DT Mich A
He should fit right in, he will certainly be in the rotation day one.
50.Washington Mike Sainristil SCB Mich C+
Solid player but unlikely starter, far to early for him.
62.Baltimore Zach Frazier C WVir A
He will be a long term starter .
52.Indianapolis Adinai Mitchell WR Tx A+
UNDERRATED ALERT!!! A steal at this spot, 1st round talent all over this kid.
53.Washington Ben Sinott TE KanSt D
MAJOR reach, complete OVERDRAFT for a situational player.
54.Cleveland Michael Hall DT OhSt B
Quckest 1st step of any DT in the draft, tremendous upside but has had trouble staying healthy. If he can stay healthy he will be a steel here, but just too early for his history.
55.Miami Patrick Paul LT Hou A+
OUTSTANDING PICK!! 1st round talent, my #2 LT. He'll start this season.
56.Dallas Marshawn Kneeland DE WMich A-
Small conference stud, just a bit early here, nice upside.
57.Tampa Bay Chris Braswell OLB Ala A
1st round talent but not a sure thing due to scheme.
58.Green Bay Javon Bullard FS Ga B
I have this pick about around early. He should be a contributer but better options on board.
59.Houston Blake Fisher RT NDame B+
Nice upside but he should have gone back to school, don't expect much this season.
60.Buffalo Cole Bishop SS Utah F
I had him at a 6th round grade, one of us is wildly wrong. I'm confident.
61.Detroit Ennis Rakestraw CB Mo A-
Just a bit early, he should be arotion piece this season.
62.Baltimore Roger Rosengarten RT Wash F
Another pick that myself and the team wildly disagree about, 6th round grade from me.
63.Kansas City King Suamataia LT BYU F
Great size, athleticism, smart kid. Production just not there. A reach in the 2nd round , I had him late 4th.
64.San Francisco Renardo Green CB FlaSt F
WOW!! What a reach, I had him in the 7th round, I'm not wrong!
ROUND THREE
Still looking for starters or key reserves at this point, better teams are looking for sitsuational fits and high level developmental players. Also players who may not have made the best College choices for their skillset, very talented but had some off the field issues that caused some concern and player who may have some injury red flags.

67.Washington Brandon Coleman G TCU D
Major reach, numerous better options on board, countless one honestly.
68.New England Caeden Wallace RT PennSt C
Same here, much better options available
69.LA Chargers Junior Colson LB Mich C-
Kind of a theme in this round, reaching for a player that you could have had later.
70.NY Giants Andru Phillips SCB Ky C+
Decent Slot CB but nothing more, a reach this early.
71.Arizona Isaiah Adams G Ill B-
I see him about a round and a half later, better options on board.
72.Carolina Trevin Wallace LB Ky B
He can play inside our outside and should help on special teams, nice upside but just to early here.
73.Dallas Cooper Beebe G KanSt A+
Even Dallas can make a great pick once in awhile. He'll start this season.
74.Atlanta Bralen Trice DE Wash A
Nice player but where does he fit? Athletic enough for numerous positions.

87.Dallas Marist Liufau LB NDame D

89.Tampa Bay Tykee Smith FS Ga B
Nice player but around early for me.
90.Arizona Elijah Jones CB BColl A
Nice player, great value here. He'll play a solid role this season.
91.Green Bay Tyrone Hopper LB Mo C
Undersized for LB.Can he play SS? To many question to draft him here.
92.Tampa Bay Jalen McMillian WR Wash B
WR3 on great team in College, yes he can contribute and will play in the league but better options on board, MANY better options
93.Baltimore Adisa Isaac DE PennSt B
Nice player but I'm not seeing the scheme fit here, they will need him at OLB, where he has never played.
94.Philadelphia Jalyx Hunt DE HouChr F
MONSTER REACH HERE! Small school player who while very athletic he will struggle to adjust for anything more than spot duty.
95.Buffalo DeWayne Carter DT Duke B-
Nice, solid player but limited athlete. Topped out, no real upside and just rotational piece at best.
96.Jacksonville Jarrian james SCB FlaSt A
If they use him in the Slot this pick is excellent, if they move him outside it won't prove as good.
97.Cincinnati McKinnley Jackson NT TxAM A

98.Pittsburgh Payton Wilson OLB NCSt A+
And another TOP PICK IN THE DRAFT type.. Wild upside and expirience, perfect scheme fit. Look for him to be a STAR!!
99.LA Rams Kamren Kitchens FS Mia(F) A+
MY #1 Free Safety, Major steal to get him here, watch for him to start this season.
100.Washington Luke McCaffrey SWR Rice A
I really like his upside if he is used correctly. QB play will be critical, so tht's not good.
ROUND FOUR
In this round teams should be looking for high level developmental players, situational fits, key reserves, elite Special Teamers. You can find starters that slip through or are not a scheme fit for other teams.
